Dear Mr. President,

What if you had a disease that had a 90% cure rate if found early through screening?

What if it was the number two cancer killer in the country?

What if you were the President and were just screened yourself?

What if you were pushing for health care legislation that talks about prevention as a center piece to your plan?

Would you put a star in front of the White House in March for Colorectal Cancer Awareness month like you did for our sisters with the pink ribbon?

I think you would. You just have not been asked. We are asking.

    Add this to Jen's link
add a period(.) then the letters "j" "p" "g" to the end of Jennifer's link. They do not allow links to images in the posts, they turn up as
    ***
Thanks for the link Jen. You can't say enough about early detection!

    Letter to the President
    Jen,

Seems like such a small thing to ask. Did he take you up on it yet? Like I've said before: YOU ROCK!

    Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.

    Jenny :)
Yours is a "point well taken."

I think we all know the reason why colon/colorectal cancers are not "sexy" enough for the media and other outlets. It deals with an issue most people don't want to discuss - like they don't do it or something.

Pink is an easier cause to get behind it seems - I hate it that anyone gets any type of cancer, but breast cancer seems to be easier for folks to understand I guess and women rally around the cause for all of the obvious reasons - it's a hard cancer too and I hate that women are afflicted with it as well.

But you're absolutely right, our cancers are the #2 killer in the world, equally affecting either man or woman - an equal opportunity killer. And it is shoved under the mat - for asthetic reasons. Doesn't make it right - just the way it currently is.

I know we all do what we can do to make friends, family, neighbors, and people we have not met, along with any media (web, paper, tv) "aware" of our situation and our cause.

I'm not sure if our cancers or our blue color will ever live up to the hype of pink, but hopefully one day it will get mainstream enough for more and more people to be aware of.

I know $HIT ain't sexy, but it will kill you nonetheless - and everybody's "doin' it."

Whatever "COLOR" we're flying, I hope that the President and Congress will just see it all as CANCER - and that something must be done to clean up our food and our enviroment, major contributors to our disease.

Great thoughts, Jenny - enjoyed this!
