I am 58 in good health and have been given two treatment options. My last PSA in February was 8.9 and my Gleason Score was 7 (3+4) involving 8 out 12 biopsy sites. I had an MRI indicating evidence of seminal vesicle invasion. My urologist is recommending an open radical protatecomy, while I obtained a second opinion from (tumor board) of a major university suggesting hormone/external beam radiation folowed up by seeds. They second opinion saw no benefit to having surgery. Has anyone experienced this situation?

    Hmmm,
I was very similar to your stats With Pre surgery Gleason 7 (4+3) changed after pathology to 7 (3+4). My PSA was lower at 5.1 with I believe 7 out of 12 biopsies positive. At any rate I had Davinci and am very pleased with the result. If you do go with traditional or Davinci Surgery LOOK for the BEST you can find! I wanted the cancer out so I have back up plan in place if the cancer tries to come back. What would be your back up plan following hormone/external beam radiation?

I'm age 55 if you want to chat off line let me know.
