Itchy gums
Yes I have slight problem with sore/itchy gums. I feel like a baby cutting a tooth as I have his urge to bite on my gums. They bleed when I clean my teeth. I think it is one of the side effects of chemo. My onc told me to use a mouth wash - CORSODYL. It makes my tongue a bit sore but has stopped the gums bleeding a bit.

Hi,
I just saw your posting
Hi,
I just saw your posting the other day, and welcome although not under ideal circumstances.
Yes, my gums would swell in different spots of my mouth as well as bleed and sometimes they would become so sore, that it was difficult to eat anything solid.
I am now looking to have a grafting procedure with a peridontist due to one spot of gum tissue that looks as if it has eroded. Luckily, its in a spot that is inconspicuous. To think that I spent four years in braces to come to this.
But let's not get me wrong; I am in no way complaining I'd rather have my life anyday.
If there IS such a thing... just be as proactive as possible with your toothcare.
Sincerely,
Sharon0 -
Salt Soda combo
Sorry to read you are having mouth issues, do talk to your medical team as they can prescribe a mouthwash that well help. If it isn't too bad rinsing with the good old fashioned salt soda combo can help, also taking L-Lysine aids in mouth health. You can buy it at walmart. Prayers Bonnie0 -

I did have sore mouth and bleeding gums. My doc recomend Biotene mouthwash, alcohol-free. Work very well for me. Walgreens and Walmart sell it. With best wihes, Zina.
I have not experienced any mouth problems. I went to Dentist for check up and cleaning before I started chemo. They gave me Biotene in case I experienced any problems. I would try this.0 -

Have you talked to
Sharon...
Have you talked to your oncologist about the grafting procedure? I have to get permission to so much as have my teeth cleaned. I have been trying to have a root canal done since Nov, but my numbers have not been good enough.
I have had bone grafts done in my mouth, for dental implants, and it was a very invasive procedure. One did not "take" and had to be redone.

Well I had another round of chemo yesturday and saw my doctor, got a scan and it showed a very slight improvement which is better than none I guess but is so frustrating!! anyway they gave me a paper to get some things to make "magic mouthwash" to rinse with, has anyone ever had or used this? It is, maalox, lidocaine and benedryl. I feel kinda rough this morning but it will get better. Have a good day my friends. MUAHBonnieR said:Salt Soda combo
