why would you wait 2 yrs...I have been on it for 9 yrs and it sucks you are treated like a second class citizen (no one will admitt this) but you wait longer in the waiting room for anything you go for. Lab, dr. apt. anything . I sat in the ER doubled over in pain and crying for 3 hours before they took me to a room. once there it was another hr. before I was seen. Our President wants a gov. run ins. program . I am on one and it is terrible...

    SSDI and Medicare
Once a year around your birthday you get a social security print out. It should have it in there how much you are entitled to receive monthly. I undestand Stage IV gets the immediate ok but you still have the 6 month waiting period before you receive checks. Others will chime in.

My sister is on Medicare and she recently had 2 knee replacements. She also pays for a Medicare suppliment. She said Medicare and the supplement is the best she has ever had. While working she had some type of Blue Cross. Here entire out of pocket, including physical therapy visits, pre-surgery exercise program, equipment she needed, etc. was less than $100.00.

The waiting period to get Medicare if you are under age 65 I think is two years.

I guess everyone has a different experience.

There are others on here getting ss disability so hopefully they will give you more insight. If you have children under the age of 18, you will also be able to collect on them.

It is also my understanding the people over at SS are very helpful in getting paperwork in order. Good Luck - Tina
