Winding down for Surgery

Surgery is Wednesday and I am flying up Monday to Chicago and just want to say thanks to all of my supports and well wishers during my journey so far with PC and the changes I have gone though as all of us…My journey so far has been a blessing in many aspects…

I have a lot of personal thing to do now until I fly out of Atlanta so I do not see myself pontificating :-) anything new here until post surgery…Of course I selfishly want the perfect outcome but I also know the reality of accepting the things I have no control over…With whatever happens I know I am entering a new beginning and this has been the silver lining with this PC and I am sure many of you know what I am saying…

God bless to all-B

    If you are having the

    BDH

If you are having the davinci, I can only add my experiences in hind sight.

For me, it was more painful mentally than it was painful physically. I didnt want to go out and play soccer the next day, but I was basically pain free, was dry within 3 weeks,
was mostly non-dry because I didnt know how/what my adjustments were (like farting included a urination!).

You will be fine - I am praying for you!

    regards

    Will be fine.
    Hi bd,

Things will go fine. It is always hard to wait, but the day will be here before you know it. Take things as they come. Like you said, you are entering a new beginning. You talk of a silver lining, and I agree. The PC experience has opened my eyes in a way I can not explain.

God bless and we'll be waiting for you on the other side of surgery.

BDH, As far as any dues that are due, just say you paid at the "office" in full.

Wishing and hoping all is going well as you move past ground zero.

thanks for your thoughts and prayers
you guys (and some gals) have been great and I plan on giving a full report next Monday or Tuesday after I get my snake pulled out of me and the pathology reports….My doc already told me I was doing too much already and told today a little less walking (I was taking up to 45 minutes walks since back from Chicago) but I only have about 4 months to prepare for my Half Dome Climb but my doc says my goal should be to get back to 100% in 8 weeks (minus some upper body strength and abdominal strength)…I will hope for the best and deal with what is given like all of the rest of us here..
Again all of your prayers and thoughts mean more than you think…BD

I can tell you that the rest for your body is necessary early on...don't push too hard. However I can tell you at day 60 I believe I could do just about any kind of workout based on the fact I skied 6 hours fell once pretty hard with zero negative affects or even an inkling of pain from the surgery. At 8 weeks you will be able to start pouring on the workouts to get you ready within the next 8 weeks...for your climb.

Sounds like you will not be
Sounds like you will not be needing Lupron or Eligard. That stuff is a real drag on the body. Good to see you up and going.

Trew….Thanks for the positive outcome wishes and it would be nice..but like the rest of us here i have no idea what our destinies are…I would like to see a few m ore productive decades but this has never been in my hands….My wife told me today (and over the decades together) that I never give up and always think of another angle…I hate to disappoint the boss

    Randy like you
I am in sales (going on 2 years without a job but seeking another senior role some place)…but have a AA personality (so my docs tells me )..so hard to sit still sometimes but I am listening to the doc about this…. Separate but related …how bad is the first BM (as I lay here and wait)?:-)

    Take it easy and heal
You need to go easy for the first few weeks, maybe more. Over doing it can hurt more than it helps. If the boss orders you to get well -

    Fist BM
LOL, yes that was a typo in the subject...but really it was not as bad as my fear meter was set, prior to taking place. I was popping the stool softners like a crack head on crack. I think 100mg stool softner every morning...then when I told that to my surgeons triage nurse she said do one morning and night...so I did...then about 3 or 4 days after that I said hey I don't need that much.... I can distinctly remember being so scared of the first BM...I was eating "very little"...my attempt and logic with that was to have just a "little bm"....and it actually worked and I lost about 20 lbs in the first week and a half. I just tried to let it happen and then following the first one I felt enthusiastically compelled to burst upon anyone who was out in the house to joyfully exclaim I had just completed my first post surgery BM and was here to tell about it. For me....it was not as bad as I feared. My issues arose later down the recovery path when I started getting cocky and hungry and started eating my insanely hot mexican I so love...I slowly did creep back to the adiction I have to hot mexican food and that was a problem..don't do it...just set yourself to eat that bland diet they instruct you to use...and stay on it for about a month...I love food too much and could not discipline myself to stay on that path. besides I lost 20 pounds and was hungry for all those foods I gave up prior to and just after surgery for....so I had to pay the piper in those dark moments in the bathroom. It took me so long to answer this you probably have already experienced your first....lol

I agree with not over doing it!
Particularly personalities like ours...we tend to do just that...More is better...I will just recover faster that way...no so true in the early aftermath period......I started getting very comfortable I think around 2 weeks post surgery and was brushing my teeth...I always would brush the tongue and go way back and sometimes gag myself in this routine...it happened...and WOW I could feel each and every one of the five robotic entry points about two inches below the surface...it genuinely hurt...and was sore for several hours after. ...that little episode told me...hmm not healed yet....but then on day 60 or so I fell skiing and hit pretty hard...not even an inkling of any surgery pain...nothing...
