    Triple negative
Welcome all of you to the site. Here's the thing about triple negative: there are advantages and drawbacks. On the one hand it is a more aggressive cancer that often hits younger women. It does not respond to hormonal therapy, so there no protection from Tamoxifen and similar drugs. It does, however, often respond very well to chemotherapy. It has a different recurrence rate and pattern than estrogen positive cancers. It has a higher recurrence rate in the first two years and then drops off sharply. Estrogen positive bc, on the other hand, has a lower initial recurrence rate, but it remains somewhat steady, whereas triple negative goes down. Her2 is also a more aggressive cancer, but there is the wonderful drug Herceptin to target that gene. Unfortunately, there is nothing like that for triple negatives yet. They are working on it. PARP inhibitors are a new class of drugs that look promising right now. There are many, many long term survivors of triple negative breast cancer. Don't let the websites scare you. I have a good article about this if anyone is interested.

I'd be interested in that article. I'm an older triple negative just finishing chemo 1 TX short because of Taxol caused neuropathy. Hoping survival isn't necessarily affected. Glad my Her2 was negative because the chemo for that is longer.

    Triple Negative
I just finished my 3rd round of Taxol after 4 of AC but I will not be getting the last treatment because of neuropathy symptoms. I'm just glad to be through since I get weaker with every treatment. I keep exercising when I can which is the second week after chemo I do 15-20 minutes of walking. I used to do 30 and then dance another half hour before chemo. I look forward to getting my life back. I'm 60 and have always been quite active and have been in good shape. I'm adding the natural medicine component through supplements and detox. I believe the cancer can be killed using the best of both traditional and alternative medicine.

When on Adriamyacin it's good to protect your heart by taking CoQ10. Good nutrition is important and A,C and E with other super antioxidants are good as well as high doses of Vitamin D3. I've taken Ginger tea for help with nausea and for me found less meds were better. I'm pretty chemically sensitive and so many of the anti-nausea drugs caused headaches.
