new side effect of radiation?

Just after my next-to-last radiation, I collapsed. I've been diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia. We are not sure of the cause of it...radiation, exhaustion, stress, late effect from the chemo, or culmination of all. In any case, I have a medication to slow my heart beat and need to see my primary care doctor (or oncologist?) on Monday -- right after my LAST radiation treatment.

Any one have anything similar? I'm only 42 and I feel like I'm falling apart!!! ;-)

    Don't have any answers for you...just wanted to offer my support. I'm guessing your concerned as you had rads on the left? I hope you get it straightened out soon. You are gonna finish strong!

    Hang tough, Lady. This chemo and RADS is hard on the heart. Make sure you follow-up so they take care of this problem, rest, and take care of yourself. Take it easy.

    Penny, how frightening it must have been for you to collapse like that. I am sorry you have this burden along with everything else.

    A medical oncologist advised me that I would not monitoring going forward by a cardiologist familiar with chemo-related heart conditions. With so much else going on, I just have not had time to follow up. Your PCP should refer you to such a specialist.

    Your last radiation treatment--that's something to celebrate. Hopefully, the cardiac situation will be resolved quickly so you can appreciate your accomplishment and move on with your life. My best to you, young lady.

    As Moopy just said, you need to see a cardiologist and probably be under specialist care. I recommend that you ask you doc at your next appointment for referral to see cardiologist as soon as possible. I am very sorry for what had happened and wish you fast recovery and feel better soon.

    Sending you prayers and hugs. Hoping that you feel better soon. Try to rest as much as you can. Rads really take it out of you. Good luck!
