Food
George and I had a pretty good diet before this cancer crap but I have tried to make it even better. As far as sweets are concerned, I love them but tend not to bring them into the house, with no kids in the house anymore it is easier. Do we indulge in desserts from time to time, yes, but not too often. Cut down on the carbs also. As far as vitamins and suppliments, our oncologist said a good multi vitamin is ok but nothing else. Don't add anything, and don't take anything without checking. Cut back on the red meat also, if we do have a steak, we split it. Tina0 -
Food is fuel. The better the
Food is fuel. The better the food; the better the fuel. And in our case, the fuel is not just for "normal" life. The fuel is for healing. But... food is also comfort, happiness and sometimes even love. Kim's cookies taste like love. They make me so happy. Since my diagnosis I try to eat one cookie - not six or seven. Cancer hates chemo, radiation, and surgeons. Cancer hates fresh juice. Cancer also hates happiness. I guess it's a balancing act. Good or bad, I try to savor every bite.

I will confess, too....
I also sneak some goodies. I don't crave anything anymore though. Well, I take that back, I crave chicken. What's up with that?
Sometimes, I crave milk. Lots of milk.
My doctor said to eat like I usually do. It's hard sometimes to do that. I just don't have the cravings like I used to and I can't eat as much as I used to. I think he's just wanting me to not lose too much weight. Personally, I could stand to lose a lot of weight.
Personally, in my opinion, I don't think it's hurtful to indulge once in a while. Life would be so boring to not indulge once in a while.0 -

I was in the hospital for 13 days and was fed clear broth and jello for 12 of those days. If I never see broth/jello again in my life I will be a happy person.I started out craving, like a pregnant crave, scrambled eggs, then yogurt, then cottage cheese all fairly healthy. Then the chicken crave hit me and hit me hard! I sent my husband out for spicy fried chicken, cole slaw, & biscuits. Ate like a pig and then suffered. I had mouth & throat sores and that fried chicken ate at them like acid. That is when I found out about the magic mouthwash which helped a lot. I have now proceeded on to craving sweets which is totally abnormal for me.I gained 2 lbs last dr. visit....yes, I appear to be a chemo gainer not a loser;(
What IS up with the cravings?? MY onc nurse told me it is probably the steroids.
I think anything your body can handle, all in moderation is ok. Just don't do like me...getting up in the middle of the night, grabbing the whole cake plate and a fork...and you can guess the rest.
