Hello all -

This is my first day on the ACS site. Have read many stories and think I've found a wonderful place for support, idea's and hugs :-)I just wanted to say HELLO to all of you wonderful women and let you know that I am praying for you and sending good thoughts your way as you fight this battle.

I just finished the Whisper Walk in Kansas City and had over 66 pp on "TEAM KELLIE" and raised over $3,000 for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

I have seen how PINK and all the breast cancer awareness has helped save the lives of so many women afflicted with breast cancer and only hope and pray that we can get TEAL out there and raise awareness of the silent, whispering Ovarian Cancer.

Wouldn't it be awesome to see TEAL on the gloves and hats of NFL & MLB players or be able to buys kitchen appliances and gadgets that are TEAL ? Or even better, have TEAL on the shirts and pants at Victoria Secret. It's amazing how when you are affected by this disease, you want to help other women be aware and get diagnosed before it is a ROAR.

I was DX with Stage IV 2/08, had major surgery 5/08 (hysterectomy, spleen removal, colostomy, muscle & other tissue removed in rectum and around sacrum) Persistant surgeon made last minute calls in surgery and saved my life. CA125 was 1034 and has been normal since 6/08. Just had first 3 month check and CT scan was "unremarkable" & CA125=11. The anxiety of being out of treatment and the time between Dr. appt's is tough, but luckily I watch my grand daughter Mon-Thur and she is the best medicine ever... GOD HAS BLESSED ME!

TEAL HUGS and GOOD POSITIVE THOUGHTS to all...
Kellie

    Welcome to OVCA site
We hate to see newcomers, but want you to know we welcome you into our group of warriors. Sounds like you are swinging your sword!!! I was diagnosed Stage IV in March of '07. Just came off a years vacation from chemo and am taking another round of carboplatin. Much like your but I have not had to have a colostomy yet... My returning tumor is on my colon, but with the CA125 in Aug. of 434 and now down to 71 we think the chemo is shrinking it. That is the only one showing on the CT now. Teal Hugs back to you and keep on tracking...Saundra

    Welcome
    Kellie,

It would be great to see TEAL on the teams and elsewhere. I thought that as I watched the Steelers on Sunday night. ☺

Wonderful news for you to share! I was DX with Stage 111C in January 2008 after hysterectomy, lymph nodes, and tumors in my diaphragm removed. CA 125 had been 1779. Had chemo and maintenance, was NED for several months.

Started treatments again in July (CA 125 was 199) and Scans showed activity in rectosigmoid. Actually while I was having chemo Monday my onc/gyn mentioned after I said I should be done with treatments the end of January 2010, she said I may not be done.

    We will see.

I too watch my grand daughter but only on Wednesday, she is 5 months old. What a blessing.

    In His Grip,
    Libby

    WELCOME
    Hi Kellie

Welcome to our site. We have a grand bunch of Teal Warriors. I would like to see more Teal colors out there, I guess all of us in every state will have to start a campaign. I was DX in August 2006 with stage 4, right now I am on ARIMIDEX. The best medicine we can get is being with our grandchildren.

    Hi
Hi, On Facebook there is a group called Teal Toes. Having Teal fingernail polish on usually gets someone to comment, then they give out little bottles of polish with ovarian cancer awareness material attached. It helps spread the word! Kathryn

    Welcome
Dear Kellie, what a beautiful picture and little girl. Thanks for sharing your story and the little one with us and congratulations on the good test results. I agree it would be wonderful to see more Teal in September or through out the year. We just have to keep reminding others of the statistics and help raise awareness. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie

    Teal
I take the time to explain that pink is not the only color for cancer survivors -- that there are various colors for the different types of cancer. I would love to see teal become the new pink. I'm going to check out "Teal Toes" on FB.
