Yes.
I had read that many of the women diagnosed with bc have low levels of vit. d3. That is the vitamin we get from the sun and certain foods. There is a great book, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer" which cover lots of interesting data.

I think that you'll find that a lot of us have a vitamin D deficiency, but I think that is true for the general population, especially those who live in the north where the sun doesn't shine for months. My PCP started testing for vitamin D a while before most other doctors did: there are lots of problems being linkied to this deficiency.

I've taken Vit D suppliments
I've taken Vit D suppliments for years as it helps with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disease). Actually I have to admit that I'm more consistant in taking it during the winter as I don't get out in the sun as much due to our brutal weather here and there just isn't as much time that the sun is up anyway. (We lived in Puget Sound for 12 years where there is definately a lot less sun, time wise, and more 'gray' days during the winter but never had any problems there - not til we got to western So. Dak.) Vit D is also needed with calcium for healthy bones.
It's connection with BC - I don't know anything about though.0 -

The can of Viactiv has a pink lid. supposed to be good for breast health. Then I heard on Good Morning America that taking an aspirin 3-5 times a week is good to for stopping re-occurances of BC.0 -

It seems like a lot of us are low in Vit D. You can have it checked with a blood test. That is how I found out that I was low in it.0 -

I'll be starting a 3-month intensive dosage tomorrow (50,000 units once a week). My doctor said Vit D deficiency is very common in breast cancer patients, especially living in the upper midwest. We get a lot of sun but it's so cold for so much of the year, we stay bundled up (or indoors) and sunshine rarely meets skin :-) Vitamin D has many more benefits than I ever imagined.
I bought Viactiv a couple of years ago but kept forgetting to take them. Two months ago, my PCP told me to start taking both calcium and vitamin D but I kept forgetting about them, too (or had some other excuse because the calcium pills are so big). My husband said to set my iPod touch to beep at me every time I'm supposed to take medicine :-)0
