deep breaths and find a way to destress
Hi Louann,
I feel for you- I can so relate. I thought I was going to explode myself from stress last night and this morning. Several people have commented how calm I always seem, but I was just far from calm. Deep breaths and walking in a beautiful nature place (weather permitting)is what helps me a bit. Yes, you need to rest and you need to do whatever helps you relax. Honestly, maybe you even need to see a Dr. about some anti-anxiety meds. I may do that just to take when needed (although I don't think that's how the meds work- I think they probably need to be taken daily). I find myself still taking deep breaths as I type this just to get that yucky stressful feeling out of me. My stress came from my bad scan news, trying to get kids carpools taken care of and covered on the days I ended up with late afternoon Dr. appts this week and next, and two daughters that refused to get up and go to school today. Ugh! Okay, now I can let it go a bit easier- lol! Deep, cleansing breaths (like 10-12 in a row) really do help the body feel less stressed.
I know you've mentioned prayer before, so I will let you know that I am now praying for you to be able to rest, destress, and be calm and able to do what you need to do for your husband's upcoming surgery and for whatever else you are dealing with. Also praying for that peace that surpasses all understanding. and, boy does it ever sometimes- it is amazing when you feel that peace! I had that on the day I got my scan news & now just need to hang onto that peace.
Hugs to you,
Lisa0 -
stress
Hi my dear,
We can empathize, and you are so completely normal to be stressed & overwhelmed. It was just over a year ago that I received my diagnosis (Stage IV Colon, mets to liver & now to lung). My wife was, in her words, paralyzed for several weeks. From my perspective, I'd say job one is to give yourself a break: you have permission to be overwhelmed, stressed, worried & lost. You will not stay lost. People will help you & be along side you. You can write back, or chat off-line with me & I'd be glad to link you up with my wife, too. Blessings.0 -

The meds are a good idea, they take a couple weeks to start working. I have never taken them but my ONC gave me an RX today. I really don't think I need them but he told me, if it will take the edge off your stress then you should take them. Think long term, think of life beyond cancer. Hmmmmmmmmm.0
