I had rhabdomyosarcoma when I was ten and received the max amt of rads to my head and neck area. Due to that I have to be really carefull about any head or neck injuries bC they say they may not heal properly or at all. Due to the chemo and or radiation I have had cataracts since I was ten. They have increasing gotten worse and are now at the point where the only option I have is surgery. I am completly blind in my right eye due to the tumor and my left eye has the cataract and needs the surgery. I am so nervous that if I opt for the surgery there could be a problem and I would be blind. Without it they are going to deem me legally blind and I won't be able to drive. I am a single mom of three boys 8 7 and 1 my middle son in autistic. They depend on me to drive and they need me. Can anyone give me any advice? Please help thanks

    Hi Amy,

Like you, I had the same diagnoses and treatment. I also can not see out of my right eye and got a cataract alot earlier than you did. The surgery that I had to remove the cataract was nothing you can't handle. The hard stuff, you have already tackled. The only thing about the surgery is that you will have to wear a shield to protect your eye for a couple of weeks, other than that, you will be fine. Get it done now, before it's too late to do anything. You will be so relieved once you get the surgery!
