Trying to Be Patient

I have been trying to be patient and tell myself that I can always wait for bad news but I think I am just about at the end. This journey has been going on since November. Seems like whatever you can think of has gotten in the way of getting a mammogram, biopsy, and results. I had three appointments that always got cancelled before I could get into see my gyn doctor or primary care doctor. When I finally got in to see my primary care doctor to get this lump seen about it was almost mid January. Then my biopsy got cancelled and rescheduled due to weather. I finally got my biopsy done last Friday and was suppose to find out the results today but the weather again interfered and everything was closed down for today. I feel like I've got a concrete block hanging over my head ready to come crashing down anytime. I guess I just want to find out the results so I can make plans. I guess I just want my life back. I guess I just wanted to vent...thanks for letting me.

    I know how frustrating it
    I know how frustrating it can be! I found my lump in Nov. did not get diagnosed till Jan. and i got out of that clinic and went to the best cancer hospital in Houston i am glad i did now everything is moving quickly and i feel like i am in better hands. My doctors office kept dragging their feet about every single test and results. I pray that your results are good and you can just go on with your life. God Bless You!

    Waiting is SOOOOO hard!
    Many of us have felt the frustration with waiting to get in to see doctors, waiting for results, waiting for treatment to begin, we can relate to what you're feeling, if not your actual situation.

    I wish I had the magic words to make the waiting easier, but the truth is it just sucks.

    Hang in there, it won't last forever, and you WILL be able to get on with your life...eventually. It just takes longer that by all rights it should. The good news is that the waiting usually doesn't actually jeopardize your treatment, it is just a very frustrating time.

    Everything about this ordeal SUCKS! I wish I had kept a "waiting diary" during my 8 months..I wanted to scream.......wait for an appointment, wait for test results, wait in waiting rooms.........on and on and on.......it can drive you nuts! After a while the waiting became "routine." I just expected to wait and quite honestly once I accepted the fact that EVERYTHING involved waiting, it did make it somewhat easier...I decided that since I had no control over it, I had to let it go......that's not to say, I wasn't about to lose my mind.....that's when I demanded something for the anxiety.......I was given the lowest dose of Valium......I had never taken anything like that and was hesitant but it made a world of difference! It really did "take the edge off" and I was thankful to have it.......so, don't hesitate to ask for something........

    Waiting :(
    Waiting is horrible, and, we all have to go thru it. I wish there was another way, but, there isn't. Just focus on the big prize, that you will soon be rid of the beast and on to living a full and healthy life.

    Where do you live at? In my area, I live in a suburb of PA north of Phila. I was diagnosed and had a lumpectomy within 2 and a half weeks. What happened to you is inexcusable!!!!!

    Sorry to hear that you have to go through so much waiting, that is rather frustrating. Where do you live? I understand bad weather etc but there has to be something they can do to speed up their own process. I live in Palo Alto, CA near Stanford and I was amazed at how quickly the doctors moved at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, in fact so fast I asked the breast surgeon if we could slow down a little and space things out a little more.
