G Tube
My dad seems to be doing very well. I haven't been over yet since we had a ton of snow. My mom is having a time getting adjusted to the feedings, he needs 3 a day, which is going to be problematic. I can't always get over there after work, but we'll see what we can do. You have to be careful about having the gastric fluids come out, which SCARES me to death. I don't have a strong stomach for that kind of stuff. I run when people vomit, so I'm not sure I"ll be able to be much help to them. I don't want to be the cause of the problem. I tried to explain that to my mom and she was a bit upset with me. I'll try my best, but if I can't handle it she'll need to understand. Anyway, I'm just so grateful he's not having any pain or problems with the feeding tube and he's ok with the decision to have it put in. Thanks to everyone for all the prayers!!!

Glad things are better
Hi E.
Just a thought maybe they can get mom a home care nurse for a little while to check in on
them a couple of times a week.
We still aren't dug out from the snow and we are supposed to get 10 more inches.
It looks like we aren't going to make our appt.with Dr. G on Thusday.
LOTS OF HUGS AND ALWAYS PRAYERS,

Hi Kath,
We got out on the roads today. It was weird. I ran into the grocery store, but the shelves were empty. Had to run to a few stores. Anyway, 10 more inches coming to us too. My dad is supposed to have chemo on Thursday, but it's not looking promising either. They do have a nurse that comes for the morning feedings, but she wants me to fill in on the 3:00 feeding before she gets home so his stomach can be empty for dinner and then she'll feed at night again. I feel just terrible, but the more I think about it the more freaked out I'm getting. I just need a little more time to process the idea of seeing the gastric juices and praying I don't do any damage. Well, the Government is closed again tomorrow and I"m guessing it will be closed again on Wed. with the new snow coming. IT's all so crazy. I"m sorry you can't get to your apt. on Thursday either. What a pain this snow is!!!

Hi Erika,
I know it is hard to look at gastric stuff, my j tube has spit out stuff that I still can't think about, but if you take the position that they would not let non medical people do it if it was dangerous, you are only helping your father, you will not hurt him!!! But my husband is like you so I know there are people who can't tolerate seeing wierd stuff and also fears for the loved one too. Do your parents know any friends who are retired medical people? Maybe they can get someone else to help with the feedings. It is a shame they can't have a nurse or med tech for 2 feedings. I will be praying for you!!! and your Dad and Mom. Boy the snow is just terrible and now we are afraid of power outages, they seem like they are starting. Think everyone in Maryland is waiting for spring!!! take care, Erika,
