Bleeding - is it ever NOT CRC?
It seems that a majority of people had that as their main symptom. This has totally threw me for a loop and has been 100% convinced that I have cancer.
I'm looking for a bright side and a way to keep my anxiety under control until the 16th!

take a deep breath!
And bright red means it's bleeding pretty darn close to the surface, so probably hemorrhoids! Time enough to find out what you're dealing with after the 16th! Whatever the cause, you will be strong enough to handle it! Looking forward to dancing with you when you find out good news.

Yes!
Yes, there are times when "bright red bleeding" does not turn out to be CRC. Hemorhoids and anal fissure are causes of rectal bleeding and would usually produce bright red blood since they're closer to the opening/anus. Even though I already have a CRC diagnosis, I had a time of bleeding again last summer and was freaked out that the rectal cancer had returned. The colonoscopy showed no sign of cancer, but I did have some internal hemmorhoids. Those along with some radiation damage I had is what was causing the bleeding.
If you haven't already, start using hemorrhoid suppositories and see if that helps at all. Don't freak out if it doesn't help right away though- it could take some time to get relief if that's what it is.
Best wishes to you-

Hi Becca!
I was certain i had a recurrence because of rectal bleeding, but after my last colonoscopy, no cancer was found, but internal hemorrhoids were. I'm a little surprised they bleed so much, the blood is interwoven into the stool, and it looks just like it did before my diagnosis. Lisa's right, there are several other causes of rectal bleeding besides the hemorrhoids.
Good luck with it! I'll be looking forward to your post around the 16th that tells us you don't have cancer!

I just went to the ER bout 10 days ago because I had bright red blood (on outside of stool)... turns out it was just a anal fissure.... which is a small tear..caused from hard poo poo. Mine wasn't even that hard! Too many Boston Baked Beans (peanuts).. lol...really! I only had 3 BM with the blood in it and then it went away.... and so did the Boston Baked Beans!!!! LOL. Take care
