    Oncologist
I have a great one. I was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer in 2005. He saved my life. His name is Russell Gollard. He is with Cancer & Blood Specialists of Nevada.

I actually had to have my surgery at UCLA since no one in Nevada does the type of surgery that I needed. It is not a bad drive either way to get the help you need. Good luck.

    Hi,

Your story is amazing! You have inspired my family and me. My father was diagnosed with Gallbladder cancer last year and had surgery to remove the majority of it, however the cancer is beginning to spread once again. We are starting a new round of chemotherapy, and I was wondering what chemotherapy have you used to get such great results? What worked and what did not work for you?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Your Father
    Hi Ko2ko2:

I wrote to you via the CSN E-mail after your post and just noticed that when I was cleaning up my mail that you didn't pick it up. So hopefully you will read this post and hopefully your father is still fighting. Thank you so much for your kind words. I was not an active participate on this site when I undergoing treatment. I know how hard it was for me and I felt like afterwards if I could instill a little hope or answer some questions that it might help others go forward. What other organs has the cancer spread to? I have had Carboplatin, Gemzar and Cisiplatin. I had no radation as my liver would not be able to handle it. In my opinion this is a day to day disease will many hills and valleys. Every person is different and what works for one may or may not work for others. I rested alot, had extra hydration with the chemo, ate fruits, vegtables and lean meats, and had no sugar or caffine. Mediation and prayer were my salavation. Hope this helps.
Take Care and your father and you are in my prayers.

    Gallbladder cancer
Hi I recently had my gallbladder out and have just found out it is cancerous. I also live in las vegas , green valley area and I am looking for an oncologist that specializes in gallbladder cancer. I am going to see this doctor you mentioned, but was wondering if you could post anything else about your cancer experience treatment stage. I am very scared and I don't know anyone that has gone through this.

    Thank you

    Your diagnosis
    Good Afternoon Lourdes,

I'm so sorry that this terrible disease has entered into your life. How wonderful that you are in my city. How long have you lived here? I have been here 21 years and it definately is home for me. If you can't tell I just love my doctor. He saved my life. I was in Stage IV. Which isn't the best stage to be in, but I'm still here. I was diagnosed in 2005 and had my last chemo in 2007. It really changed my life but in some ways it is better. I see Dr. Gollard every month and have scans every 6 months. I use Steinberg Diagnostic for my scan and Fanny is the best tech. I'm a frequent scanner there and I know alot of them. They are great. Just to let you know Cancer & Blood Specialists of Nevada are quite small in comparision to the other cancer center here. They don't have all the bells and whistles or programs, but really caring doctors and nurses. Don't be upset if your appointments take up to two hours to get through it is just that they are so busy. I know that sometimes they run behind because if you are a patient that isn't doing well they get seen before others. I have been one of those patients that took an appoinment time from someone else. Now I am very patient as I am well and can wait. Dr. Gollard is really a matter of fact doctor and as you get to know him you will understand how committed he is and doesn't take it lightly that you are so sick. He will take very good care of you. This isn't an easy road and if you would like to talk more privately you can add me as a friend and then we can use the CSN Email or you can EMail me at LGregg6293@Aol.Com. Just put ACS-CSN in the subject line so it doesn't end up as spam. Take a look at my profile, my story is there. You have every right to be scared. The unknown is the worst. There are a few survivors out there and I know that there are a few others right here in this city going thru it. Ask me anything you want and I will try to help.

Take Care and I'm adding you to my prayer list.
