Buzz, that is a Great Idea!
Buzz, I like your idea. Please let us know how it goes.
---I have called my cancer clinic to volunteer but have not heard back. I feel the need to do something to pay it forward too. I see it as my duty as well since I am still alive and my college friend at 54 years of age didn't make it due to colon cancer.
------Please let us know how it goes.0 -

That's great Buzz
That is very giving of you to do that Clift, way to go!
I am planning on spending time at local hospitals doing volunteer work in the next few months. Maybe I'll entertain the troops, I'm not quite sure what I will do but I am meeting with a friend this Friday to hash out some ideas.
(pssst: Buzz, I think we are aware we have cancer, it's the OTHER people who need to be made aware)

Thanks everyone...I did check in last night but didn't post.....I did get snowed in but did manage to get in some hours there. Its not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I need to be a little more ready next time...I did talk with several people and some of whom I knew when I was doing treatment that had re occurred...I laughed, I cried, its heartbreaking, the despair that people have, the feeling of hopelessness, the lost feeling, and no control of any of it. I spoke to a few that just were flusterblustered, I know, but theres no word for what they were feeling. I started at the first when I was first diagnosed, the feeling of helplessness and loss of control of everything I had, I went through all my most intimate details, I answered 1000 questions, most of how do you cope with this ? I simply replied, I do not wish for it to go away. I wish to be alive each day, I wish for little victories along the way, I wish for most of all patience on my journey, I also let them know that each of them were special because they were going through chemical warfare on their body to fight for what was theirs, their life and the ability to make decisions about your own life, not allow cancer to make them for you. It was very very emotional for me, and I am still having trouble with some of the stories I listened to. This is an awful disease, it destroys lives and not just the patients, but economically as well everyone it touches
I got a call today from a friend of mine that I work with and his sons boss has just been diagnosed with colon cancer. I have no idea what stage or to what extent he is. He wants to meet me and asked if I would be willing to sit with his wife and him and answer some questions about what is to be expected. I told him that yes I would and I am waiting for the call. I told him that I would talk about everything from Poop to Peanuts ( I just like that saying for some reason)and they could ask me anything they liked....I will keep you informed as much as possible about the journey.....Love Hope and "The Cure in 2010"....Buzz

and that will be $59.95....Visa Debit will be fine.....:)...LOL....good to be home0 -

Buzz,
You did a wonderful thing! You are giving back and helping others through your knowledge and experience. I am sure they appreciate it more than you will ever know. I always appreciate your posts. They help me immensely.
Wise quotes --- Never underestimate the power of a simple, pure deed done from the heart. "Each person must see himself as though the entire world were held in balance and any deed he may do could tip the scales."
"One day at a time" is a good way to get through the days that are tough. I still use that philosophy.
Keep a strong mental attitude that you'll beat it, and you're doing all you can!

When I had my surgery I knew nothing about cancer and what to ask or do I just sit down and shut up...well what a difference a few months make I do not sit and shut up. I go to my ONC every 3 weeks and while I wait I talk to anyone that looks lost . I had a pink breast cancer ear warmer and gloves givin to me and not having that cancer I stuck it into my coat pocket when I was at to onc there was a lady about 85 w/b/cancer she was realy giving her son a hard time he looked like he was about to explode I ask her how she was doing and man she started to unload . When she was finished I said you know what I got out of that and she said what , I said you are 85 yrs old and alive you are beating the beast..,.she looked at me and started to cry and said no one has ever said that to me before. I started to tear up and said well If you would allow me to I want to give you something. I pulled out the gloves and ear warmer and handed them to her and she put them on and said thank you I didn't think anyone cared about me her son looked at me and said you have no idea what you just did for her.So I have learned that if we look around there is some one we can touch and not ever know we did it. I made about 100 scarfs with of course frogs on them took them and put them in the chemo room for anyone to take if they wanted one and they are all gone. Wow what a good feeling we get when we just look past our pain and suffering and focus on someone else and we both feel better....0
