What music inspires your fighting spirit?
Of course, Melissa Ethridge's song "I Run" is at the top of the list. I wanted to get ideas from all of you about what songs you would include.
Thanks for the ideas.

Hello
I think that is just so awesome that you are doing the Race for the Cure. I missed the event last year because of the chemo. I will do the walk this year and hope to do the 3 day event next year. I enjoy a wide variety of music from country to reggae. I like to listen to some classic rock when I want to get the blood going....like AC/DC "For those about to rock, we salute you", Led Zepplin, "Rock n Roll", Rush, Queen "We Are the Champions", Lynard Skynard "Free Bird", Kiss, to name a few.
Good luck with the training.

My neice and her boyfriend made me a CD they called Aunt Sher's "Feelin Good!" CD. I listen to it a lot. Here are some songs on it. Stronger by Emmanuel Jal, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic by The Police, Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae, Aint No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye.
Good luck with your race.

my ringtone
The ringtone on my phone was set by my firend s to "If You're Goin Through Hell" . It continues with "keep on movin', you might get out 'for the devil even knows you're there...If you're going through hell, face that fire, walk right though it, you might get out 'fore the devil even knows you're there." This has been my mantra throughout. At the bowling alley, the league makes sure they play it at least twice a night for me. Good Luck.0 -
Some goodies
My "theme song" is Natasha Bedingfield's song "Unwritten." It's on YouTube (with lyrics) so I can sing along when nobody is around! It's at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jloQ6xsx3bE
Or I just crank up the TV -- Comcast carries quite a few music stations that will get the blood going. I listen to Classic Alternative and Classic Rock. Always gets me singing and dancing. Never fails! Music is one of the best medicines available. Enjoy!!!!!
(Great idea for a site KimberlyRose. You go, girl . . .)

Wonder
by Natalie Merchant always gets me dancing (around the house by myself) and feeling really great.
All of those Queen songs are great as well!0 -
I vote for Queen
We Will Rock You, I Want To Break Free, Don't Stop Me Now, We are the Champions, Killer Queen, Fat Bottomed Girls, Another One Bites The Dust, Body Language, Somebody to Love, Bicycle Race.
I play the whole Queen Greastest Hits to inspire fighting spirit.
I just played the whole CD and if Godzilla showed up right now I'd wrestle him to the ground and tell him to poop on someone else's yard.0 -

Music is a big part of my life
Some people have photographs, I have music to remind me of people, places
and how I felt , music transports me to that moment.
I listen to Nil Karaibrahimgil, my favorite turkish singer, look her up on
you tube, she's wonderful, full of life.
I am currently listening over and over to this song by playing for change,
great organization, I saw when they came here to AZ. Amazing energy!

This goes under my skin. And also I listen to Lady Gaga a lot these days.
Her theme being monsters suits my mood. I feel like I am going to a dark
place, becoming a monster in a way... I love her song speechless and
Teeth. Show me your teeth!!

Ayse,
The google video from Playing for Change is so awesome! No wonder you've been listening to it over and over!
For anyone who hasn't seen it: It's a video of regular people around the world (many of them appear to be street musicians and singers, performing on their usual corners) singing "Stand by Me" "with" each other. If you need a burst of energy or just 5 feel-good minutes to help you get going, I highly recommend watching this!

While viewing this, Ayse, I was reminded of how people came out of the woodwork to support me with prayers, a Catholic mass, 'good vibes', positive thoughts, meals, flowers, fruit baskets, and visits. So I just emailed it to everyone who was on my 'Boob Loop' email list that I used during my active treatments to keep people informed about my treatment progression. To say, "Thank you" for standing by me. Thanks, Ayse, for passing it along. And Thanks to the originator of this thread. I'm compiling a list to add to my IPod! Would never have thought of these great songs myself~

"Lets Groove" by Earth, Wind and Fire. That song will definitely get you rocking and put a smile on your face. There is actually a TV commercial using that song. Dance your heart out0 -
Head banger
I'm a bit of a head banger when I need motivation. Angry music actually helps me think. Seether is one of my favs. Fan of all music. Raised by grandmother, so Lawerance Welk, Doris Day, Gene Kelly etc.. She had a son 7 yrs older than me, so Iron Butterfly, Beatles etc.., married my husband of 32 yrs, 12 yrs my senior. Lovin Spoonful, Beatles, Alot of the 50's music, and I was into pink floyd, Led Zepplin etc.. Had 3 kids and was into, and still am, Alternative, Indy. I love all music. It fits any mood or fulfills any need. Put it all on except country or rap. Those are depressing. lol Sing along, Gayla0 -

I am so glad you liked playing for change. Music is a powerful tool and this
organization really shows you how it can cross borders and unite people.
Connie and Tracy you are both right, good vibes that's what this song is
all about.
