Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has ever missed a scheduled chemo infusion because of being ill. I have been sick for the past 10 days with a bronchial infection and have been on 2 different antibiotics and am scheduled to have my fourth dose of A/C tomorrow. I am scared to get it because of me being sick and I don't want to make my condition worse. Please advise. Thanks

    Check w/Doc
I did not miss my chemo but I was sick with an upper respiratory infection. They gave me antibiotics and made sure I took antibiotics while recovering from chemo. The point I am trying to make is that you should talk with your Doc and you too discuss what is the best course of action rather than just missing your chemo.

    Good luck.

Right before my first treatment, I myself postponed my Chemo twice because I was sick with something. I was congested, had a fever, I felt lousy, the 3rd week they told me to come in anyway. I did, they checked my counts and they were good so they went ahead with the treatment. They gave me a steroid with the Chemo & it actually made me feel better. It depends on your Onc. & your counts. Have you called & told them you have been ill? If not, you may want to call them before you go & ask if you should come in or not. Hope you feel better real soon!

    delayed
My wife developed a cold with infection prior to her fouth treatment of AC, she was every two weeks, she delayed it for a week while taking antibiotics, she took her fouth treatment, no prob, she is doing her first of twelve treatments of taxol tomorrow, suppose to be easier than AC. You should be fine, but it is always wise to question.

    talk to your doc
before your infusion or call and do not come. Your primary doc or other specialist who prescribed antibiotics should contact your oncologist and explain your conditions. If you do not feel well you can postpone your Chemo treatment by 1 week.
    Good luck

    Getting sick
Thanks for your question. I was wondering that myself. I have a sniffly nose - don't know whether I have a touch of a cold or just dry nose membranes due to 3 rounds of chemo. I'm taking treatments 190 miles away in Phoenix and wondered what would happen if this escalates before next Tuesday and my 4th and final treatment. My daughter's wedding is 2 1/2 weeks after my last treatment and I don't want to delay that final treatment! I want to be set to jet for the wedding!

Hi. I missed my second treatment due the H1n1. I called my Dr and told him I had the flu, and they set up my treatment for the following week. Call them and let them know what is going on. I would think that you do not want to do chemo while you are sick already. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. HUGS!

Well, went to have my chemo yesterday and the onc decided to put it off until Friday, he said he could hear alot of wheezing and wanted to postpone a few days, so I am hoping I am better by Friday, I just can't seem to kick this.
