Hi,
Have you had an EUS yet? The drs cannot be sure how small it is just from the PET scan. I started out with a small lesion that did not even show up on the PET scan but was positive for cancer from the EGD biopsy and then after my EUS, was dx'd with Stage II and then rapidly went downhill to Stage III with 1 lymph node. Not to scare you but the PET scans do not show the whole picture. Also, you definitely need another opinion to make sure you are staged properly before you go ahead with any kind of surgery. Your chances of survival increase if it is a higher stage with complete esophagectomy, but I am sure there are other procedures if you are lucky enough to have a very early stage. Good luck to you!!
