Cath is Out! Yes!

Had my follow up today and they took out the catheter. What freedom!!!! Got the pathology as well.

My original stats were
47 years old
2.9 PSA
1 core positive
3 suspicious
rest okay

Gleason was 3+3=6

Post Op
Gleason 3+4= 7
Tumor Confined within the Prostate Gland
Resection Margins and Seminal Vesicles Free of Tumor
Tumor Quantitaion approximately 35%

Appears that I made the right choice in not waiting to get this removed. Next visit March 3 for PSA and follow.

    Everything sounds great, know you're "relieved" to have catheder out. Hope your March 3 visit goes well also.

    Organ Confined is a VERY NICE thing to hear!

    Nice to hear outcomes like yours...to a zero March 3 PSA...that is the day I have my surgery....

    You will do fine!
    Sounds like you have one of the best surgeons for Opens at Northwestern....I personally believe the skill of the Dr. whatever the procedure choosen is the single most important factor...along with God and a little luck. We will all send out good thoughts on that day!

    Hi Nick here and both things sound like great news. I was also glad to be rid of the catheter and felt so free.Bet you will sleep better at night. Again remember walking and plenty of water. Good luck on the incontinence and other issues.

    Thanks guys. Keeping up on the water and walking. For the most part, leakage seems to be more or less stress related (moving too quickly, sudden sneeze, cough, etc). Have been using about three pads a day. Have been fortunate at night that I do seem to be waking up with the urge and am able to get to the bathroom. So far, so good. Doing my exercises every day.

    I know that feeling to have your little cath buddy removed. Now to get your bladder trained again and get that zero score on the March 3rd PSA.

    I share your joy, Joe! I had the thing hanging off me for five weeks; now I'm pad-free with very occasional dribbles. I did get one funny story out of it: overnight in the hosp. after surgery, nurse comes in, kneels down to collect my bag and empty it. I groggily feel a tug on the bed-linens, reach out and scratch his head, saying "OK, boy, I'll take you out in a minute." Followed by spasm and four-letter word. Nurse thought it was hilarious. John
