my friend has been connected to a feeding tube for about 6 months - and just found out the other day that some are portable?
for all this time she's been stuck in her house most of the day waiting for the cans of stuff to go thru. sometimes she's too tired or busy to do them all and is losing too much weight.
do most people use portable ones? seems a silly question but not too us!

    feeding tubes
    Hi,
I had open surgery in December and had a J tube inserted which goes into your small intestine, like Bills, but I have to have mine stay in till Easter because I need more weight on and am starting cleanup chemo this coming week. I only take 2 cans of Jevity a night and then I am eating 6 small meals a day. I think it depends on what kind of feeding tube your friend has and is she on 24/7 feedings which would limit your mobility. The j tube is just a silicone tube that sticks out about 6-8 inches of my abdomen to the left of my navel and I wear bandage patches to catch the drainage and the stoma that forms around it. You can go anywhere with it and have to flush it before and after feedings and once a day if you are not using it. I can't imagine not being able to go anywhere, unless that is her only means of nutrition. take care,
