I read an article on Yahoo that rated the quality and taste of grocery store burritos. I love burritos but I haven't eaten many lately. Mostly because the fast food ones aren't very good and the ones at burrito specialty places are $6 and up. I refuse to pay more than $3 for a burrito. My favorite mexican restaurant sells a ribeye burrito for $10, It is good but I would rather have the ribeye for a few dollars more. Anyway.....I've tried most of their recommendations and I have to admit they are pretty tasty. El Monterrey makes some really good burritos. They sell them at my local wal-mart in the deli section. They range from $1-$1.50 depending on ingredients. They aren't frozen but you can freeze them. I heat them up slightly in the microwave then finish them off on the george foreman grill. They're fairly large and 1 makes a considerable meal. If you are looking for a tasty and cheap meal or like good burritos give them a try.

    Thanks John! I'm not eating
Thanks John! I'm not eating any beef and my guys are getting tired of turkey instead of beef in Mexican type dishes. This sounds great! I can buy for them and then fix me a 'taco salad' with turkey and baked chips. Thanks, we'll check those out next time we head up to Walmart. We JUST left there!

    I get El Monterrey burritos
I get El Monterrey burritos frozen at Safeway -- I didn't know they came fresh. I pre-heat (and thaw) them in a microwave also, after wetting them down to soften the wrappers. Then a brush with beaten egg before roasting in the oven. When I have the energy, after thawing in the microwave, I unwrap them, add cheddar and chopped onion, and re-wrap them.

They are awesome and you don't even miss the meat! They are about 1.99 at Walmart.

    A little more burrito yum
I take those same burritos even el Monterey frozen burritos and spray and 9 x 13 baking pan with pam. Then I place burritos in single layer across the pan. I cover with original red enchilada sauce or green sauce and sprinkle with chopped onions and shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until hot all the way thru uuummmmm. good. You can even layer it like a casserole with whatever you like in layers of burritos, and cheese and sauce cook a little longer serve with dinner salad or I love Cole Slaw.
