Gross colostomy question

Like many people, my colostomy is a "loop colostomy." My bypassed rectum is still fully functioning and requires a "traditional style" poop from time to time. It's usually just mucus, but yesterday I pooped out what looked like two flattened black beans. Totally gross. I laughed like crazy, but it also kind of freaked me out. Has anyone ever experienced this?
Giant rectal tumor. 14 liver mets. Unknown amount of cancer in my peritoneal lining. And yet somehow today I'm worried about pooping little black bean looking things. This ride gets weird sometimes.
Peace,
Roger

    They were not really beans.
They were not really beans. My surgeon and oncologist insist that nothing from my GI tract will get past my stoma. Is it possible for food waste to bypass the bypass?

    colostomy
My husband has a colostomy, and he goes out the rectum more than the colostomy bag. His colostomy just about healed shut (the size of a small pencil) so they just dialated it and tried to stitch it back open. That was on 12/31/09,and he is still having more pass out the rectum than the bag.

The surgeon really hopes this would work as it would be a big procedure to take out the rectum. My husband has cancer at the lower sigmoid/rectum and he really thinks that the cancer would block that path by now.

When he got the colostomy in May,he was not in good enough shape to do a permanent colostomy. On that day, they had done a colonoscopy to dialate his restricted rectum, and ended up his anastomisis(sp) came apart after 4 1/2 years. When he finally had me carry him to the emergency room, he was septic and in shock.

His colostomy sure hasn't been the fix for his bowel problems that we were hoping it would be.

    I had an Illeostomy and
I had an Illeostomy and nothing came out the bottom. I went for the dye test to see if I could get the reversal and when the test was over, I went to the bathroom and pooped! 7 months and no poop and then this happened, all I could say was What the Hell? I talked to the doc and they said this happens. So maybe it was just one of those things.

You both need to Run fast .....
and get out of that place....it sounds like an experimental lab....not a hospital that needs to treat cancer patients.
Some Drs don't like to admit they are limited by what they can do...

I want everyone to know that I do think after remembering a post by one of our members here that most Drs in this profession are quite proficient at all of this, just be aware of the few that aren't but never profess it.....This to me just sounds as if it happens to be one of them...Love and Hope for you both......Buzz
