NO MORE CHEMO!!
All and all my journey through chemo was manageable. I was blessed to have minimal side effects - some steroid headaches for a few days after each chemo, some bad constipation the first time till I figured out a stool softener with laxative and no cheese and bananas, tiredness the first 4-5 days. With the support at work I was still able to work full time (some done from home after an afternoon nap). Even my hair stopped falling out after the initial loss and is GROWING. I have about 1/4 to 3/8" already.
I have the utmost respect for all of the chemo girls who have had to deal with some of the harsher side effects - the big C, allergic reactions, unable to work. My heart goes out to you and you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as you end that part of the journey.
I have 1 more meeting with the onco in three weeks and will get my labs drawn then and discuss the Arimidex treatment. I asked him at my last appt this past Monday when could I consider myself "cancer-free" and he told me "YOU'VE BEEN CANCER-FREE SINCE YOUR SURGERY! the chemo was just a preventative and extra boost to compliment the surgery!" WHOOOOOOO!
I'm going to take that to mean, at least for now I can have my dance with NED! He's been waiting in the wings much too long. For now I want a slow waltz, in a flowing agua gown and NED in a tux. Course we can't do too many spins or turns for a week or two. Then we can tackle a tango!!
Just wanted to share - steroid glow and all. Lola

Congratulations, Lola!!!
Congratulations, Lola!!! That's a twofold congrats, one for finishing chemo and the other for your dance with NED. Enjoy it, you worked hard to get there. You'll be doing the tango in no time. I have an appointment next week with my onc to discuss Arimidex, too. So, we'll be starting our 5-year journey around the same time. I'm hoping we don't have any more side effects than we had during chemo. Again, I'm so glad that you're done with that part of your journey. Take care!0 -
Let the music begin!
So happy to hear the great news!
Enjoy that beautiful dance (I thought you'd be doing the hula, but it's your choice) and your many, many cancer-free years ahead!

Here goes. A Waltz
Lola,
Here goes. A Waltz to the tune The Anniversary Waltz with words by me
Oh, how we danced
When I found I was NED.
We twirled and we spun
And it went to my head.
Dancing with NED
Heart filled with his charms.
Hoping forever to be in his arms.
I will just hope
and I will just pray
That all of my sisters
will soon feel this way.
