HI Gracie, doing better thisunknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
HI Gracie, doing better this am, foley and NG out. I feel better than I did before surgery, I was in so much pain, the obstruction was caused by scar tissue. I keep wondering when this nightmare will end..0 -
Bummer
Hope you are doing better now. Are you still in the hospital? You must have been some uncomfortable getting treatment while feeling so ill. Glad you are better.

Oh my, Petrina
Glad you are feeling better now
The Highs and Lows of this stuff, right? "Riders, please keep all hands and feet inside the car while riding this ride."
Removing tubes from our bodies is always a good thing - I had the big 3 removed last time: foley-ng-chest, Ouch!
Swift healing and bet you can't wait to get home!

I've had several obstructions, and how painful they are! I had to have surgery for them once, and the other times I went to the hospital, thank goodness they moved themselves, but that darn NG tube is definitely the worse thing to go through! In my sleep, I kept pulling it out, and sometimes it got so annoying, I pulled it out, where they had to place it again! I hated it!
There was this nurse though I had, and he was awesome! He was so humane in placing it, using a lidocaine spray that they had, he sprayed it up my nose and down my throat, it stung just a little bit, but I tell ya, I hardly felt it going in! he was a wonderful nurse, who would also sit with me, and told me how he had gone through non-hodgkins Lymphona, and was now NED, a young guy too... I had to have a CT Scan done, and he even put it in a cup, and added ice to the barium, because he said that's the only way he was able to get it down, and it was easier to go down for me! It's always nice having nurses that have been through what you are going through, I never had a nurse again though who used that lidocaine spray for those NG tubes though! I wish I had him as my nurse ALL the time

Thanks guys, it has been an interesting week. I did have a ostomy reversal in sept, but this didn't affect it at all, the bowel was twisted and obstructed due to scar tissue. I agree the NG was pretty misserable. I was so sick though that I just wanted to get into the OR and get it over with. However if we had to wait, there may have been a possibility of another resection and ostomy. So, finishing chemo was supposed to be such an exciting time and then this happened, but I am on the road to recoivery. Luv you guys.. Petrina0 -

And as awful as it was, probably better now than later. Get everything done with now. If you'd finished chemo and were getting back to life as usual, and then this hit, you'd have yet another interruption in your life.
Wishing for smooth sailing from now forward for you!0 -

Use Miralax everyday in a glass of juice, and keeps me going, you don't taste it at all, and I take 2 Ducolax pills a day, one in the morning, and one in the evening, which has helped me. Now, if you aren't passing gas, or haven't had a BM in 2 days, my onc said to get to the hospital immediately, because it could be blocked, even a partial blockage, but it's safer for them to check it, then be sorry later. Hope that helps hun!

I agree with you, does this nightmare ever end? This is a horrid disease and if you look at the different discussion boards on this site, colorectal has the most posts. Don't you wonder why that is and what is causing this? Why have we not found a cure for this beast? I am sorry you are going through this but am glad you are feeling better. You are in my prayers!0
