Hmmm
Margaret, they did an endoscopy on me the same time as my original colonoscopy. I was totally knocked out and other than a dry mouth, didn't even know it had been done.
So, I looked up swollen esophagus and found this:

5 FU bugs our throat, etc. and causes gastric distress. Sounds like it might not be anything serious at all. Hope so!0 -

Thank you for the reply I had my meltdown yesterday, today I woke up more level headed, not everything will mean the cancer is back elsewhere. I think what really scared me was my dad had esophogeal cancer and they used his colon in place of his esophogas, my husband doesn't have a colon if he were to have cancer and had to have major surgery. My family and cancer don't usually equal survival and I guess that's why my immediate reaction is it must be back. I really do appreciate all the positives I read on this site and again I Thank you for your time in replying. God Bless. Margaret0
