seeking to reverse

hi friends . MY mother was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of colon cancer with staging T3,N1,M0
she had faced her first surgery on 24 sept 2008, on 6th of october 2008 she was operated again becuase she had anastomotic leakage and in that surgery she had lyprotamy plus hartmanns procedure means she had colostomy made .. after complicated recovery of 3 months she was able to get her chemo which lasts upto 6 months with 6 cycles. now we are seeking for her third surgery( reversal of colostomy). she was admitted with good health and no signs of cancer again but during her colonoscopy the GI have found that she had extreme anus pain and doctor have found anus is very tight from inside and they are waiting for the results of biopsy that have been taken from the inactive rectal part..
can any one tell me why is it happened or if cea levels are normal no evidance mass is there still cancer could be found ...plz tel me m in deep need of right advice

    CEA level are not 100% I was
    CEA level are not 100% I was told by my chemo Dr it
    is a guide line they go by I had colostomy surgery
    March 26TH 2009 and they had to remove my anus and rectum
    and sewed me up so reversal is not an opinion for me my CEA
    levels was 1.50 in Oct 2009 DR. said as long as the numbers
    don't go up I'm fine if you are a 4 them you are in trouble
    that means there is cancer present hope this help.

    CEA levels may not be useful for all
    My CEA levels were within normal low even when I was found to have an active ulcerated 6 cm tumor in my sigmoid colon. I asked my surgeon, what does this mean since you know I have a serious cancer? He said, for you as an individual, it means that CEA test will not be useful now or in the future as an indicator of the level of activity of your cancer. So it's apparently not always meaningful for every patient... but the doctors might know what it means for her individual past history.

    You might ask the doctor if by the "tightness" s/he was suggesting or considering looking for or at a "stricture" caused my scar tissue. Some people develop that after surgery and my doctor said they can only accurately detect if it's a problem with a repeat colonoscopy at least several months after surgery. Sometimes this is why people have prolonged recovery period after surgery and don't get better as quickly as they should, or even get better and then regress is what I was told. They can do surgery for this scar tissue if it's a serious problem, I'm told. I hope your mom is able to get her reverse surgery and things go well for your family.

    distal lopogram was normal no mass seen during clonoscopy
    my mothers distal lopogram was normal and her clonoscopy shows there is no polyp and no mass .
    but only anus tightness .. they said they dont know the reason may its a side effect of chemo or may that rectal end in inactive for last 14 months .. i hope every thing will go fine m seeking for the results of biopsy on 1st jan.

    my mother is my family .. i will speak to her GI .. thanks u have give some good information.
