Hi Lisa,
I'm wondering who is your Mom's oncologist at MSKCC? Is it Dr. Sabbatini?
Thanks,
Nancy

    Mom's oncologist
is..Dr. Bell McGuinn and her surgeon Dr. Richard Barakat. We just got out of Memorial Hospital today after one week. She had to be hospitalized for kidney function issues after her second round of cisplatin. She can NEVER have it again it did so much damage. Di they give you cisplatin after your de-bulking?

    ugh!
    Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your response. I had carbo/taxol IV 5 rounds. I then had my illeostomy reversed and an IP port placed. I continued with 3 rounds of cisplatin and taxol IP. I know they mentioned my kidney clearance was excellent. I wonder how older women tolerated these hard drugs. What happens now with your Mom? I read in your previous post she had no remission. What meds has she been on. I have Dr Ginger Gardner surgeon and dr Sabbatini oncology. I recv'd my chemo at Sloan's outpatient center in Sleepy Hollow.

You are fortunate about your kidney clearance
Wow, My mother had 3 carbo/taxol, then surgery. IP port and was supposed to have 3 cisplatin/taxol. Her kidney clearance was non-existent so they can't give her the cisplatin again. She will have her 3rd with carbo/taxol. Sounds like the same regime you and she are having. When is your scan? What is your ca-125...How come you had 5 chemos before surgery? We didn't know there was an outpatient sleepy hollow....we'll have to look into that...Congratulations on tolerating the cisplatin..it's apparently a terrible one.

    clarify
I wanted to clarify. I did have my debulking first. The debulking left me with a temporary illeostomy. after 5 rounds of carbo/taxol I had the illesotomy reversed and an IP port placed. I then recv'd 3 rounds cisplatin/taxol. Why do you say your Mom had no remission if she only had 3 rounds? How old is your Mom? Does she live outside NYC? After being out of chemo for 8 months I am having my first reoccurence. It was not picked up on a ct scan or by ca125. It was picked up on a PETscan. A very small area on my colon. My higest ca was 720 and my lowest was 7. It is now at 17.
