How do you say thank you?

That is a question I have been asking myself for 3-1/2 years. I was DX with Stage II colon cancer in July of 2006 by emergency surgery and from that point on it was one big daze; glossy eye experience. I was in denial until my first chemo treatment, then it came crumbling / crashing down all at once. Wow, this is real, I really do have cancer, OMG what am I going to do? Please God, I am not ready. Family, friends, how do I cope. The thoughts, questions, confusion just would not end. I did not know where to go or who I could turn to for support, guidance, help, etc., until one day at work I was on the American Cancer Society website and found my SECOND FAMILY.

You gave me support, guidance, kind words, encouragement, facts, information ALL without question or judgement; WOW, you guys didn't even know me and you opened your hearts to help another human being, so how do I say THANK YOU, the only way I know how that would work with this family.

Dear Family,
I would like to take this time to say thank you for the support, guidance, encouragement, kind words, facts and information that you provided to me without question over the past 3-1/2 years.

Your open hearts gave me the strength and desire to push forward through my new journey no matter the road blocks or detours that were put in front of me.

I knew I could always turn to this family no matter the question for guidance I was looking for.

I thank God each night for YOU and pray that he continues to lay his hand over each and everyone of you.

Thank you

    I'll triple that emotion:
I'd be lost at sea without a life preserver without this site. Thanking all who've helped me get thru so far and wishing all health and happiness, as much as possible, for the coming year.... Thanks for being there......Steve

    Great Post!
When I first learned about my cancer, I was devastated and didn't know what to do. I found this site and found the answers, compassion, and experience I needed to give me confidence to go forward. I say thank you to everyone. Great post.

    I Was...
The same way, when I first came here, I was so scared, and didn't know what to do or what was going to happen to me, and when I found this site, I'd lurk and not post alot, but then got into posting more, to try and help others as I was fighting, and have met such a wonderful family here that had gotten me through this ride. I don't know what I would be like today if I didn't stumble upon this site. I believe God puts certain people in our lives for a reason, and that's why I believe he led me to this family, you are all very inspirational to me, and give me alot of hope that you can live life, and not let cancer rule you.. You are all very special to me, and I love you all, thank you for being a part of my life.

    Hugsss!

This IS an exceptional group of people. I feel blessed to have found you. I am glad Donna admitted that she was a "lurker" in the beginning. I find myself returning time after time to see what new posts are here. I will type a comment and end up not posting it. I suppose I find myself feeling that I am still sort of waiting on the sidelines and have not been picked to play on the team yet. I know that it is my own self-consciousness holding me back. I read with keen interest everything you all have to say, but feel that my contribution would be lacking. I am really a confident person, so this is surprising to me. I will hang around until I find my "voice". Thank you again for all the caring and support that you provide to so many.
    Warmly,

The best way to say 'thank you'.....
    is to return the favor....

I am on my 15th 'patient partner'. I frequently get asked how they can help me, and I say...Just help someone, as I have you....

So, there is your cause...remember how frightened you were, there are so many others that are just as scared...

    Hugs, Kathi
