He doesn't have a blockage. I am looking for a good detox to build up the immune system.
How are they treating his cancer? Chemo, radiation? Or at all?
It matters what they're doing....
The immune system is about 80% of one's digestive system. When your
digestive system is lousy, your entire health suffers. Chemo and radiation
really does a number on the digestive system, as noted by the troubles
of chemo patients losing immunity, getting sick from virus and infections
easily. The kidneys and liver take a major hit when the digestive system
gets worn down.. and that puts a major burden on the entire body.
When they say that a patient is "fighting cancer", the patient is actually
fighting the effects of Chemo. No individual's body can fight any illness
if the immune system doesn't work.
Sorry... got carried away there...
I don't know about the "coffee". I know they once said that coffee
is a carcinogenic, as if that matters? I really don't know why pumping
coffee into one's butt would do anything good. Is that with cream and sugar,
or black?
You would have to know the full diagnosis, and their prognosis, and
the results of all their tests, to seriously try to consider what direction
to go in.
The "detoxification" is often a preamble to Traditional Chinese Medicine,
or holistic practice, and is done once (if needed at all), to clear "toxins"
prior to treatment to "build". If a patient is too weak, a "detox" can do
more damage than good, so it's best to know exactly what's going on
before you experiment.
There are TCM practitioners all over, although finding a good one is
as difficult as finding a good GP, surgeon, or specialist. If you have
the time, it might be worthwhile.
The trouble with cancer, is that the damned thing displaces what the
body needs, room, energy, etc. Although many alternatives can do a
better job than anything western medicine has to offer, if the cancer
tumor is too large, where it is about to shut down an organ, nothing
short of an operation, or other radical treatment will work as fast.
I had a major tumor that filled a section of colon, grew out and into
an adjoining side of the colon where it folded back. An operation
was absolutely necessary.
If I were you, I would get all the details and fine print in front of me,
and question every ounce. Make an appointment with a gastrointestinal
specialist, and a colorectal surgeon, and have both of those new doctors
give you another opinion. Second and third opinions should be mandatory
prior to any possible life changing event; cancer is one of those "events".
Let us know how it all goes!
Good health to you and yours!0 -

About two years ago a tumor was taken from the colon. The Oncologist said the body was completely free of cancer. But then within 7 months it had spread to the liver and the lungs. The oncologist has taken him off chemo about two months ago and said it wasn't working. The tumors are in his lungs and liver. The two tumors in the lungs have grown. For example 1 has grow from 2.4 x 2 to 2.9 x 2.1 in two months. He had the one tumor in the liver. Now the CS is showing a new one that is 13 mm. There is no sign of cancer in the colon.0 -

Re:
"About two years ago a tumor was taken from the colon. The

First of all, -I- think that any physician that lets a cancer patient
walk away from that recent condition thinking they are cured of
cancer, is being disingenuous at the least, and incompetent at best.
Most often (normally), when a cancer cell becomes large enough
to be seen or felt, spores of it are already throughout the body.
Most cancer cells are killed by one's immune system (Hooray),
but some escape and lie dormant.
Re:
"The oncologist has taken him off chemo about two months ago and
said it wasn't working. The tumors are in his lungs and liver. "
Were biopsies taken? All too often the chemicals used in chemical
therapy (chemo) can cause "second cancers". If the cancer had
spread from one organ to another, that cancer often grows at a
more rapid rate and is more difficult to control. But if it is a different
cancer (second cancer), then it is possible to fight it with different
chemicals that are designed to detect that different grow rate.
Make an appointment with a gastrointestinal specialist, and a
colorectal surgeon that do not belong to the same group, or organization.
Go out of the area, if possible. Take all the records, and all the reports
and scans/X-rays (you can get copies from the hospital).
You need other opinions, and as soon as possible. Most good doctors
welcome second opinions, so don't feel you are insulting anyone.
Second and third opinions should be mandatory prior to any possible
life changing event; cancer is one of those "events".
At this stage, it's very possible to use an alternative, but you will
need other opinions regarding the mainstream care first. If the
cancer is now a stage four, it is critical. Many have beat it,
but it's no fun, and very, very serious.
Forget the "detox", and go make some appointments; don't
waste time.
There are a lot of very viable ways to fight cancer, but you have to
know what time-frame you have left to fight. If radical treatment, like
surgery, radiation, etc., is needed, anything else might be a waste
of precious time.
Please keep this forum posted? There isn't any one of us that
doesn't care about a fellow cancer victim and their family.
Stay well.0 -

I'm so sorry about your father. I am also taking care of my dad. Also, about 2 months ago, his doctor told him chemo wasn't working and sent him home on hospice. I will regret to the day I die that I didn't get a second opinion THAT DAY while my dad was still doing relatively well. Looking over his medical records, I found that the doctor did not even look at one of the scans that actually showed his tumor was shrinking. In the meantime, my father has declined significantly, and I don't think there is a doctor who would be willing to try anything. In that time, my father also "made peace" with his own passing and doesn't want to get a second opinion. Don't make my mistake. Keep fighting for your dad (but, also respect his wishes...not that you aren't).
I don't know much about detox, but I have friends who have done them while in good health and it was hard on their systems and they lost weight (not a good thing for your dad at this point). I think that a reasonable diet avoiding processed foods and refined sugars and full of fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods is a good place to start. I'm sure there are folks here who know more about it than I do that will chime in.
Good luck and continue loving your dad the way you obviously have been.0 -

I made some essiac tea the 4 herb. When my dad went for a blood test the Doctor said his blood looked better then he has seen in a long time.... Mom and I took it also. Mom's blood sugar level was the lowest she had seem also in a long time. Mom has high sugar. I thought this was interesting.0 -

I really think you should make an appointment ASAP with a
colorectal surgeon, a gastrointestinal specialist, and an oncologist.
They all should -not- be members of the same group or association
that your present doctors belong to.
You need to get second (and third) opinions regarding the detailed
diagnosis and prognosis.
Not all "stage 4" situations are the same. Stage 4 is when the cancer
has spread from the primary site (organ), to another site (organ).
Most often, once the cancer has spread, it grows at a faster rate,
complicating the procedures they use to attack cancer.
There are times however, that the cancer has spread to an organ
that is not a critical organ, and although it's still "stage 4", the chance
of survival is much much better.
Without a definitive diagnosis, you have no way of knowing if there
is time to use an alternative solution. Most alternative medicine works
more slowly than the modern chemical therapy, or radiation. If the
tumor(s) are taking over a critical organ, you simply do not have the
time to see if the alternative will stop the progression.
There is one chemical that can be ordered by a physician that is
not normally given. It is "Hydrazine Sulfate".
http://scri.ngen.com/
It is said to be good for "late term" patients.
There are many viable alternatives to chemo and radiation, but time
is a major factor.
Please, get other opinions now.

Hi yaziza,
Good to hear of the results your parents had with the Essiac tea. I too took essiac tea as part of my protocol for stage III colon cancer (NO CHEMO) using only alternatives (after my surgery to remove tumor).
Detoxing was a large part of rebuilding my immune system. Out with the old and in with the new. Taking organic coffee enemas helped to cleanse my liver which holds the toxic load. I detoxed slowly over the course of months through diet and massage and acupuncture.
Taking ALL animal products out of my diet and eating only brown rice, steamed veggies, and drinking fresh organic veggie juices (3 qts/day) allowed me to detox safely.
I worked with both a Naturopathic doctor and a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner in conjunction with my Mayo Clinic oncologist.
I have remained cancer free for 8 1/2 years having never done any chemo. I continue to juice veggies every day as my "maintenance" and avoid ALL processed foods, sugars, dairy, and alcohol. It has worked very well for me.
Hope this helps.
