Serrana could use support and prayer- in bed with a broken hip
For those of you who remember or know of Serrana on this board, I just wanted to let you all know that I spoke with her a couple of days ago. She is confined to bed at this moment because she fell and broke her hip Tuesday of last week. I just learned of this Monday. She fell while trying to put up Christmas lights & has sustained a hairline fracture. She won't need surgery, but it will take some time to heal. I don't know how soon she'll be checking back online here, but I'm sure it would cheer her up to receive some encouragement from those of you who know her.
I offered to go help her out (she lives about 40 min. away from me), but she assured me that between her son and dear next door neighbor, that she's well taken care of.

I'm sorry that you have fractured your hip - glad there is no more surgeries planned for you, you've had enough of those this year.
Enjoy the bedrest and soak as much sleep as you can...it will all still be here and there when you get back...
I was on a ladder a few months ago cutting some tall tree limbs, so ladders can be an adventure...hope your holidays can still be Merry!

That's kind of you. I actually do not have Serrana's address, just her phone number. I do know, however, that she's pretty private and would probably prefer me to not give that out to anyone- I wouldn't want to do that without her permission. You could try sending her a PM (private message) about it. I'll give her a call soon and let her know to check this discussion board and also to check her private messages as soon she's able to get to her computer.0 -

Anyway, she said she is doing better, she sends her love to all. She has rallied the troops, and has people bringing meals, etc...She is stuck in bed, so she cannot get on the board right now.
I am planning on visiting next week or so as she feels better, so I will take all of your good wishes to her.

She fell the day before I left for Tennessee & she called me after I got back to see how I was while she was suffering herself! I knew that you used to live in the area, but did not realize that you still do (I thought maybe you and Hans were in the Netherlands all the time). Where are you actually located?

That poor girl!! And while doing the tree! I feel so bad for her, I hope she gets better soon, please let her know I'll be praying for her, and thinking of her, and I'd love to send her a card as well! I'm glad she does have help around for her though, I'd hate hearing she was alone through all this. I wish her a quick recovery!

The "girls" got me thinking, Lisa
If we can send anything to Serrana, I want to send her my Christmas card and "gift" that I've been giving the group - it would sure brighten her holidays.
And while I'm at it - if you trust me enough, dear Lisa, PM me your address and me, Santa, and the elves will make you a gift and send it to sunny California - just for you and your family - I can't leave you out of this - I'm sure the rest of the group will agree.
In fact I'm in Santa's workshop now (what a slave driver, LOL) and I've been "filling" 3 more orders that have arrived via PM - I've almost got those done and ready to send.
It would brighten my Christmas if I could include you too I understand if you don't want with privacy and all, so I won't push, but if you want - me and Santa and Rudolph will wing you one out tomorrow - and you can share in what everyone else is going to get.

Would you please let her know that I'm thinking of her and hoping that she continues to heal well very soon. What a terrible accident to happen with her putting up Christmas decorations and this happens. Get well fast girl.

We spend every 3 months in a different country...lol!
We were on our Mexican cruise when she did this, and so I missed all the excitment...I think that day I was shopping in Mazatlan...
My home in California is in Redlands...inland, half way between LA and Palm Springs...by Loma Linda (famous for the medical center...teehee!). I told her I would be coming down before we leave for Holland on Christmas day...maybe the 3 of us can meet up...
Otherwise, I'm at my other home in Holland...in the 'winter wonderland' at this point. We mainly plan around the hot summers in California...so, June-Sept in the Netherlands, and the rest is flexible. But, it's only 3 months at a time, so about this time, in either home, I start getting homesick for the other one...I even have 'let it snow' stuff all over my Redlands house...

Thanks to all ..........I am on crutches now,out of bed more, have minimal pain and the orthopod says it will take about month to heal....... It could have been really worse. I feel like it was a wakeup call so I will start acting my age ( darn ) I think my bones are a bit weak from radiation too so watch out gang, it could happen to anyone who is crazy enough to stand on a chair on an asphalt driveway that slopes. Geeeeeze.
