Gas mileage
get a hold of your locale ACS and give them your information on you and they will call your Oncology Nurse for information
Tell them that your calling for Gas help http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp
it's .20 cents a mile up to 300.00 dollar a year
For myself all my stuff is at one place (scans, Doc., infusion and so on) I don't know how it works if your allover the place
hope this help some of you

Great- there's also an "Air Miles" program
    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the tip! I just got off the phone with an ACS representative about this. It's probably based on income, but she wasn't positive about that, so she took down all my information and will submit it to that dept. & they'll get back to me within about five days. I was told they normally don't reimburse, but have vouchers and gas cards available for help depending upon your need.
I also asked if there's any kind of program for help with the cost of airline tickets for flying to another location for cancer treatment, appts, etc, now that I'll be flying from San Diego to Nashville every 2-3 months with the new treatment I've started. I was told, yes, there is an "Air Miles" program. They weren't available at the moment, but again she took down all my information and said they should get back to me within a day or two. She didn't think the Air Miles program was dependent on your income like the gas card assistance program.
I think I'll post a separate thread on the Air Miles program to be sure others see it.

    Take care,
    Lisa

    Insurance Nurse mentioned this
I am going to get an E-mail from my Insurance nurse that has financial help that might be available for us. I will share as soon as it comes. She also mentioned that the ACS will give cancer patients a gas card. Will look into this and let you know.

    you are correct
CSN does have the gas program and it has nothing to do with income.

I'm glad to hear that it doesn't have to do with income level! I just found out by talking to my mom yesterday that my stepdad did get some reimbursement from "some cancer foundation" (my mom's words) a few years back when he was driving an hour away for radiation for prostate cancer. I haven't heard back from anyone yet after I left my info w/ them re. the driving "miles" program or the Air miles program. I'll let you know when I do and what they tell me.
