Surgery over....Margins clear
I had my surgery on the 4th and I am feeling great. No pain. My doctor called last night with the pathology report results and my breast margins were clear and 1 out of 10 lymph nodes had cancer so it hadn't spread. He also said you have to have 3 lymph nodes involved to have radiation so I don't have to have that. I still have another round of chemo to go through but that is it. I had chemo before, then the masectomy and now more chemo. So does this mean I am dancing with NED? Thank you to all of you for your kind words before my surgery when I was so scared. It really helped me.
Love and light,
Vicki

I am happy for you but
Vicki
I am happy for you but I am confused. Is the reason you are aren't doing rads because you had the chemo before, then the mastectomy and more chemo after and that will take care of the cancer in the one lymphnode? I thought that radiation was used whenever there was cancer in a lymphnode but I know that mastectomies can be different than lumpectomies. But in any case, I think that this is great news. I don't know about the others but it would seem to me that you are NED so I say dance around, celebrate and get through that last chemo. Yah team!

I'm sure you will have a MUCH better holiday season with that step behind you. I know how stressful waiting can be. Now you know exactly what you are dealing with and it's all much easier with that info.

Thanks all......
I must not of worded it right about my chemo. I don't have only one treatment left. I have to do a whole series of Taxotere. My oncologist will tell me how many treatments when I meet with him on Monday. Then I'll be done. But in the meantime I am dancing!!
