My Roy has passed away.....
Just a quick note to let all my caring friends here know that Roy passed away Saturday night at the hospital. From what, we don't know (it wasn't the cancer or the esophageal surgery). The doctors don't know, they told us that. An autopsy might help, they said.
When we came in to see him this morning, the doctors told us it didn't look good, his blood pressure kept dropping. They were going to take him for a CT scan to see if anything was going on inside him that was causing his blood pressure to be dropping so fast. Then they determined that they couldn't wait for the CT results, they would just take him for surgery. After prepping the OR, the doctor said just the trip to the OR was too dangerous for him, he probably would die in the elevator. So, believe it or not, they did the operation in his room! They said he probably wouldn't survive the surgery, but he did. They found nothing in any of his organs to give them any clues as to what was happening. So they told us we should all say our good-byes and sit by his bedside with him. Our three kids and their spouses and his brother and two sisters were there.
He died very peacefully at 10:23 pm. We are all going to miss him dearly. He was so loved by us all and he loved everyone of us.
I'm sorry my story is so grim and graphic, but I needed to tell all of you, who without your help, I would have never made it this far. I appreciate all the love, support and prayers from everyone on this site (and Roy did, too).
I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers and I will still keep in touch, my dear friends.
Love from me & Roy
Trish

I am so sorry
Trish,
What can I say, but i am so sorry to hear your loss, but he has joined our KITTEN and they are rejoicing at the gates of EC patients. Roy fought a fight, but if the doctors told you it wasn't his cancer or his surgery, it makes you wonder, I really thought things were looking up for you. We all have never met but we take each one in our hearts like they are our family. You stayed with him through the end, and you have no regrets, I hope you truly continue on as Roy would want you too. Please know we all are here for you and will continue to pray for you, please keep us posted on how you are doing.
Pack your love with him and send it with him to heaven I am sure you have alot of memories of each other together.
GOD BLESS

My deepest
Dearest Trish,
My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. Roy did put up a great fight. I was happy to hear that he went peacefully. I am curious to know what actually did make him die. Maybe his body just wanted to give up. Please know that you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Keep in touch with us here.

Trish,
I am sorry to hear of
Trish,
I am sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. After reading your posts, I also, did not expect this outcome. It sounds like you have family there, I hope you are finding comfort and support with them. Thank you for including the details. As a spouse I really struggle with just understanding what we are up against with this disease, and any information is welcome.

our hearts are breaking too...
Trish,
I have not been on---traveling to Duke for my dad's surgery tomorrow. I am so sorry for you and your family...we were all rooting so hard for Roy that I almost felt that he could hear us!!! Maybe even be annoyed by us all!!
Now...He is not alone---and neither are you. HE is no longer suffering, but you are...we will all be here, when family & friends are not.
Be thankful for the time you and Roy had together---remember the good times like he (Roy) would want you to do... The Lord knows your pain and will not leave you.
We grieve with you.

Trish my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish that I had more comforting words other than he is in a better place an is no longer in pain.
Seek comfort in this and that the Lord must have had a special reason to have taken him from you.
Please let us help you in your time of grief and if you need us we will be here for you.
God Bless you and your family .

Hi Everyone,
As we prepare everything for the funeral home tomorrow, I am reminded of all the love and support I have received from all of you here.
Family is arriving tomorrow....I'm sure the funeral home will be very crowded....he had so many friends....he was such a good man! We are still hanging in there. It's not easy but with your family around, it sure helps! Still trying to make sense of this.
I guess it was God's plan (it certainly wasn't mine). He must have known Roy was going to suffer and decided to spare him the pain. If that's the reason Roy's gone, I should be thankful. But we are all so sad for all the things in life Roy is going to miss.
I wanted to thank all of you again. It's so nice to read your posts....especially when you all are going through so much of your own and you are still thinking of me! You are all still in my prayers!
Love,

Just checking in
Hi Trish,
Just checking in with you. Hope the funeral went well, and you got to see a lot of people you have not seen in awhile. Always seems to happen that way.....weddings and funerals always bring people together. Roy is such a better place now. And the best thing is he is no longer in pain. I believe there is a heaven, and that you will be with him again.
Please keep in touch with us here. We love to hear from you. We can not talk to Roy, but we can talk to you. Stay strong and know that you did the best you could for Roy. God Bless you and your family at this time.
