Hope Back Pain Is Just Back Pain
We go see Dr. Gibson the oncologist tomarrow for our first f/u after surgery. I need some extra prayers. Al has been having this mid to low back pain now for about 3 weeks. First I called Dr. Gibson and he looked over his scans from when he had pneumonia, I guess he told them he was having low back pain. He said nothing there. I believe him, I think. I pray
that its not mets. He never had any mets to any other areas except for the area of the esophagus. Most of you know the story by now.
Anyway Im scared. I wonder if the kept him off of chemo to long and the little buggers got loose and are now in his spine. You know what that means.
So I ask you all to Pray that back pain is just back pain. We have come so far for this to get in the way of our progress.
Thank you all,
God Bless
Kath

Hey Kath, Hang in there
Hey Kath, Hang in there girl! I am sure that it is just back pain. It is normal to be nervous about this. Every little symptom brings us back to the thought of.....is it the cancer coming back??? You and Al are in my prayers. Let us know what happens.

Prayers
Hi Kath,
I know it is so hard not to worry. Maybe he strained his back somehow unknowingly and/or slept on it wrong. If he has been sitting a lot, that would do it too. So, try and stay positive and not think the worst - I know it's hard to do.
You're in my thoughts and prayers,

DO YOU NEED SOME MORE BIG GIRL PANTIES ???
Okay Cath,
I think you need some more BGP so you can press the part that says NAH don't worry, or the kind that you never take off so you just push the button of okay lets pull these up and move on down the road. I know exactly how you are feeling, every time jeff gets a pain or cant swallow right i think OH no, its back, I think its just something we keep in the back of our mind, even thought they have had the surgery and doing well its still there.
If you remember our ER visit not long ago. Just stay strong and know I am here.

Hi,
No I don't need anymore BGPS. I do have a valid concern. Along with back pain is a 5lbs weight loss in 5 days. Also I know that Jeff had a different surgery but he also was a different stage then Al.
Al is stage IV not alot of people have had surgery at stage IV. There are so many things that
they really don't know about stage IV and surgery.
We will learn tomarrow what will happen next, there will be more chemo, how often will he have
radiation.
I have to be strong. I have to get ready for round 2. The fight isn't over yet. We still
have months to go.
Thanks for you support.
I will let everyone know the game plan as soon as I know.
God Bless.

back pain
Hi Kath,
Will be praying that the drs can find out the source of Al's back pain and hope it is just generic back pain. I feel for you, every pain can scare you and you wonder if it is something bad. You and Al are in my thoughts and prayers and just hope the dr has nothing but good news for you. take care,

Hi,
All is well the back pain is not mets!!!Al does have an MRI tomarrow to see if it could be a disc problem and also to see how things are progressing inside.
All of the lympnodes that were removed and the area around them are clean! They don't think
he will need radiation.
He will need about 3 rounds of chemo. We will be discussing that in more detail next week. Dr.Gibson and Dr. Luketich will be meeting and should have a game plan by the time we get there next week.
They gave him a Medrol Dose Pak which is prednisone to help with the back and also his appitite.
Everyone was so glad to see how good he is doing and is excited about his progress.
Thank you for all of the prayers and support. I just love the way we on this site rally around eachother when someone is down and needs to have the spirits lifted.
Thanks again.
God Bless all of you.

Kathy,
Sounds like you had good news all the way around......so happy for you both. Hopefully the MRI will show the cause of the back pain....funny how we think.....you will be happy to have it be a bad disk.....not that a bad disk will be any fun...but at least it is not cancer.
Continuing to keep you both in my prayers.
Stay strong,
