Im right above you
From Alaska, Im a fishin girl to. Last summer going through chemo and radiation stoppped me from doing what I love and that is fishing. Prefer halibut fishing. Oh well, I am going this coming summer and thank God I will be strong enough to reel one in, lost all my strength, chemo destroyed my nerve endings but they are slowly healing. Happy Thanksgiving0 -

Nice to meet you! And good luck on the next fishing trip! I love to eat halibut, but I've never fished it. I've fished salmon. But my husband and I usually go fresh water fishing. Catch and release mostly. He's into fly fishing. Not me...yet. I might try it this Spring. And like you...hopefully will be strong and healthy:) After this scare with cancer, i'm into trying and doing more things in the future. I'm still healing right now.
How is the weather up there right now? Cold?
Thanks for wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving...but we celebrated it last month. lol!! But..Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of the other Americans too!!

Week 5 of radiation
Hi Cindy I absolutely love Victoria have taken my children there 2 years in a row (Will have to try somewhere else next summer) My mum has one more week of radiation left, then wait 6 weeks and then have her first scan. Oh how I dislike the unknown, when mum told me of her diagnosis it shook my world, as I'm sure it does for everyone who gets that news. Will keep you and all the people on the message boards in my prayers.

Hi!
Yes. Victoria IS a beautiful city. Very expensive to buy a home there though. Where do you live?
That is too bad about your Mom. And it sure does shake the people up around you. It's been 23 days since my last radiation treatment. I only had radiation. I go for a check up on Dec. 7. And go from there:) I'll keep your Mum in my prayers. This is so hard for everyone. I know.
Take care,

Hi
I am from southwestern Ontario
I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in the spring. received radiation and chemo in May and June, had an operation on my neck last month. Doing well - loss a lot of weight. Feeling tired all the time but still going to the gym to get my strength back. I still have some swelling in the face from the operation and a permanant dry mouth. So except for the swelling, weightloss, dry mouth and tiredness I am doing pretty well. In all liklihood I am cancer free (at least I am living that way), so all is good.

Nice to meet you! And so glad to hear that all is well. Keep it up, and get even stronger. Keep going to that gym! lol!
I too lost a lot of weight. I'm 5'1 and my normal weight was around 105lbs. I am now a whole 85 lbs.!! It's so difficult to gain weight though. As I still can't swallow food, so I have a feeding tube. In which I hav Ensure all day. Woopie!! lol! I' hoping I'll be able to swallow some food soon:)

Hi Cindy
Yeah I had some extra pounds so that helped,I actually packed on some extra weight before treatment and ended up at 5'6" 180lbs (although now I am a trim 145 lbs). I lost lots of muscle, that is giving me the motivation to go to the gym.
So at what stage of treatment are you in? Keep your spirits up. I know that when I couldn't eat (and keep much fluids down)I felt weak and it got me down. But it will get much better. It took me about three weeks after treatment until I could eat again. (got pretty sick of smoothies - now I like them again). Spaghetti was my first solid food, I almost cried as I was able to get a small plate of the food down (not from pain but from joy), there can be lots of positives as you regain your strength, just look for them and celebrate them.
All the best!!
