WE HAVE ALOT TO BE THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING
For everyone that has had surgery we have alot to be thankful for our loved ones is still with us, and for the ones waiting for their loved ones to have surgery you still need to be thankful, they are still with you and living. Each one of our loved ones, might still be recouperating, but they have 2 eyes, to see 2 ears to hear, a voice to talk, 2 hands to use and 2 feet to walk, it could be worse they could not have some parts of these.
We all have had a stressful summer, fall and now winter. Lets all be Thankful we are here and we have all our friends on this site!!
Bill Marshall, thanks for all your replys to us, weather we want to hear it or not, without you on this site we all would be lost and you are our GUARDIAN ANGEL, and you are the WIND BENEATH OUR WINGS, even though Kitten is our ANGEL, you are one of a kind, you are there when we are down, you are there when something isn't right, and you are there to guide us to the right choice, Thank you from me especially.
I want to wish all my EC FRIENDS a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
love to all
Jeff and Lori (AKA MOE AND PAPA)

I'm thankful that I still have my dad for this holiday season!! He won't be able to eat his turkey dinner tomorrow and will be feeling under the weather, but he's here and alive. He's having his esophagus stent put in as I write this. I hope he feels better by Saturday so he can eat some turkey. I'll be cooking a turkey tomorrow. Everyone on this site, have a WONDERFUL and blessed Thanksgiving.

Sherri,
As you know, Charlie and Jim are in the same boat....stage iv.....surgery not an option. Charlie seems to be a little down today too......and I keep reminding him we have alot to be thankful for...especially since tomorrow is Charlie's birthday too......we weren't sure if he would see another birthday.
We received a call from the dr's office on Monday. They wanted Charlie to come into the office to repeat his last blood test. Something wasn't right. I asked what was up when we got to the office and his calcium level is elevated. Dr was not in the office and the nurse didn't have a lot of info other than that. So of course I had to look it up when I got home and it could be a sign the cancer is back. I am praying Charlie did not look it up...if he did, he hasn't said anything. So please all, say a prayer it is something else.....which it could be....but of course we always think the worse.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and you all are in my prayers daily.
Stay strong,
Jane

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL ON THE BOARD...YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED AT OUR TABLE..
My son and I just returned from church services which were uplifting...
Hi,
Happy Thanksgiving to all here, patients and relatives, may everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving and at least one thing to be thankful for!! I won't be eating turkey just some soup but I am grateful for my son and wonderful DIL who will have the whole family up and enjoying their cooking. It is hard because I have Thanksgiving dinner most years and wish I was having it this year but it was not to be. So whatever circumstances you are in, may God bless you and keep you in his Hands!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My dad is also stage 4 with no surgery option at this time. He got his stent put in today. He's in a lot of pain at the moment. But, I will pray extra for Charlie that the elevated calcium is something else!!! Keep positive thoughts going. Happy birthday to Charlie!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Stay strong everyone!!

Hi Jane.
Of course we never know what is "up" with our family members EC, but I am praying for the best for Charlie. Just remember each day is special, a gift---and he is SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU!!! (and you lucky to have him)... All we can do is take this journey step by step.
Even if you're worried---try to put some humor in the day--like old times.
HAve a nice Thanks giving to you & Charlie---and all those on this site.
As I made an apple pie today (a tradition)-it made me think of my mom & dad as usual---and I smiled. I emailed and told them that he'd be able to have some for NEXT Thanksgiving!

Hi Sherri
I didn't know about the elevated calcium levels. Al has his first follow up appt. on Dec.2nd
with his oncologist and I'm sure that he will be haveing blood work done. Even though he has had his surgery he will still need additional chemo and radiation. I will be watching his labs closely.
Happy Thanksgiving!
God Bless

You know what, don't think of it as a club you can't get into. We are all in the same boat. Sometimes, those with surgery like to think of themselves as cured, but in reality, no, it is just another avenue, and it does not always work.
All of us, no matter if we have done chemo/not done chemo, done rads/not done rads, done sir spheres,/not done sir spheres, done surgery/not done surgery are waiting. We live each day in the unknown. But you know what, in reality--we always did. We just refused to admit it to ourselves. Every day could have been the day we had a heart attack, or were a victim of robbery or hit by a bus. It's just now we all understand that every day is a gift.
I know a lady on the ACOR list whose hubby never did have surgery and he is cancer free for four years now. He had mets every which where you can have them. Her hubby's route was different than ours...not better, different.
So don't feel you are missing something. You are following your own path.
This Thanksgiving we were so thankful. It has been Layne's goal to be eating Thanksgiving dinner w/the family since April 27. And you know what? He did. And yesterday, he craved curry, so I got him some.
It was a great Thanksgiving. We loved it --every minute of it. We even watched the WHOLE parade without skipping through the singing!
