Pasta w/ white sauce
peeps4, not sure how far out you are but maybe try some pasta. I could manage it 2 weeks out from last rad but it had to be a white sauce. The tomato based sauces caused a burning in my mouth as I don't think it was recovered enough from the chemo. I can manage tomato spaghetti sauce now though at almost 5 weeks post. I also found I was really temperature sensitive and foods just barely warm worked best. Even cold like ice cream was dificult although once again, I can do ice cream now with no problem. We have an old fashioned malt machine and my daughter and I make them a lot. I also have 3 or 4 eggs every morning either scrambled or soft boiled. You are right on with the gravy as well as the soup. I have a can of some type of cream soup everyday and make a grilled cheese sandwich to dip in the soup. Moister the foods, easier they are. (Have biscuits and gravy often as well as I really miss breads and rolls and can do those) Also, make sure you walk or exercise everyday. The weight you lost was muscle so you need to build it back on not just add weight. I have gained back just over 10 pounds so far and looking for another 15. Don't know what to tell you on the mucus. I battled it all through my treatment and for weeks afterward. It all kind of just happened one day that I woke up and could actually swallow, with dificulty, but could swallow and soon after hit the soup and things have just been getting better eveyday for me. (everyone in the house was glad to see the spit cups go!) Also, I try to eat beyond the full feeling. Just a few more bites when I feel like I don't want anymore. Also, my oncologist said to just keep trying the things you know you like and if something doesn't work out, try something else. Don't get discouraged, just keep trying stuff. Good luck!

Cookbook
There is a cookbook called, "easy to swallow, easy to chew" and can be found at amazon. It gives the calorie count and was written by Speech Pathologists that specialize in swallowing disorders.
There are some things that are milk based that will increase the mucous, so I would suggest staying away from milk, ice cream, dairy, etc.0 -
