CEA Numbers

Hi! Last tx I was told my Cancer numbers dropped from 27 to 5 and again this tx from 5 to 2.2 with a white blood count of 6.8. I have no idea what this all means does it mean that if my count stays below 5 I will be considered in remission. I still have 6 more tx to go so things could change along the course but for now it would be good to have this positivity to go forward with. Any advice would be appreciated. Hugs.

    It looks good on paper and is directly indicative in a lot of people...Normally CEA is considered the amount if any of activity of abnormal cells. 0-3 for non smokers is considered normal 3-6 for smokers is considered normal and anything over that is considered to be activity. This is not to say that all cancer patients CEA levels are indicative of remission or activity as there are several things such as treatment can increase CEA count in some people. I would think that it falling as it is for you that your cancer cells that are lingering are being killed off at a good rate and it seems that the treatment regimen you are on is doing what it is suppose to be doing, killing cancer cells...Sounds like you have a great prognosis going there, I also think that 6.8 WBC is also a great count in immune system cells....Keep up the good work, hopefully the low CEA count in your case will be complete freedom of the disease..but we'll take what we can get...Good Luck to you and keep us in the loop.................Buzzard
