Juicing Question

Hi Juicers!

Happily my mom's husband just gave us her juicer (a Juiceman) and we're getting ready to start juicing in addition to whatever treatment we decide to go with after meeting with the oncologists in the coming weeks.

My husband just had a right hemi-colectomy on Nov. 9th. He's doing great so far! Has been walking a few miles everyday. He's starting to get back to a relatively normal diet. For the first few days he was home, we were eating rice, chicken noodle soup, white bread, potatoes, etc.(largely BRAT diet). We were reluctant to shock his GI system our usual high fiber, heavy veggie and fruit diet too soon, but we have been slowly adding cooked veggies back into his diet. We've been careful to make sure everything has been cooked so far - so no raw veggies and fruit just yet.

All that said, how soon after surgery did you start juicing and eating a high fiber diet in general? While not completely back to normal, his BMs are starting to get back to the way they should be.

Any beginner-juicer tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Tashina

    I know...
Emily had said not too go to heavy on the greens at first, I'm not sure, but I think someone on here got a little sick from doing that, I don't want to do it where it would shock my system too, but I believe juicing with carrots and apples first are good too do, and am sure Em can chime on in here what won't shock the system and all that.

    Hugsss!
