FINISHED with RADS!
They did not throw me a party, no clowns, no cake. The tech gave me a certificate and a hug, and I was out the door. I came home and made a cup of mocha and ate a cheese danish in celebration! Sad that my husband is at work, I really wanted him to be with me. Its strange how emotional this is!
Now its time to heal. Thank you all for helping me through.

Congrats on being done with RADS! That is a huge milestone that you have overcome. Be sure and still use your creams for a couple of weeks as your skin is still "cooking".

Congrats on finishing Elm. And glad you are remembering to continue the creams. My rads place also just did a certificate and hugs but it was so good to be done. Enjoy and celebrate. Happy, happy for you.

Congrats!
Elm,
I know what you mean about finishing rads being emotional. I started to cry when they told me I was done just because I will miss all of my "people" there. I didn't get a party, cake or certificate from my center, just a bunch of hugs from the technicians - that was enough for me.
As others have already posted - keep using those lotions and creams. My skin is so dry now it seems like as soon as I put on lotion I need more.
Take care and congratualations!0 -

Please keep using the creams for at least two weeks, if not longer. Still get lots of rest.
I keep going back to my cancer center to see the techs and my rads oncologist. I miss them I know, weird, but, I do miss going there everyday.

congrats Elm
sorry so late in responding, but my joy at your completion is just as great! It is always a good thing when we get through another phase of this journey. Celebrate (but still take it easy, you are still cooking) and let hubby celebrate too! Keep it going all week (or month) long!
Take care!

Elm, so glad that it's over for you. I found finishing radiation quite emotional, too. After seven weeks, you develop a routine, you know that you are actively fighting the beast, and there's almost a sense of loss when it's all over. Like finishing a semester at school: you don't get the high that you expected. Rest up now and heal.
