Sorry
I am really sorry you are going through this. I don't have any words of wisdom. Our health system is really in need of reform. Getting insurance now is probably not possible because of a "pre-existing condition." Are you eligible for any government help? Also check with the local American Cancer Society. I know in our area we can get help with mileage. They might also be able to point you in the right direction for other help. Best of luck and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Fay0 -

I, too, am very sorry to hear that you are going through such a rough time. Apply for any "Patient Assistance Funds" that you can find. Get online and appeal to every society and organization. Look for the "Contact Us" tabs and send e-mails asking for help. I think the internet might be a powerful tool for you. Please hang in there-we will all be thinking and praying for you.0 -

Hi Kim. I don't know where you live or how much family and friend support you have. And I am sorry that you have to deal with any of this. In my local area which is Upper Michigan I doubt a week goes by without a benefit dinner for someone. And there are always coffee cans at the local stores and gas stations for donations to people dealing with cancer. A few months ago two women in a small town faced the same issue as you. They needed $7500.00 each before a hospital would start their chemotherapy. That is a lot of money for a couple of waitresses to come up with. The money was raised through speghetti dinners and auctions. Sometimes just getting the word out can bring in help you never expected. And there is nothing wrong with asking for help. My thoughts
I have to tell you this absolutely sickens me. I am fortunate that I have good insurance which covered my husbands treatment. For a doctor to refuse to treat a patient because they do not have insurance is absolutely disgusting. They should work with you and refer you to the social worker at the hospital and help you with charity care. I would start calling every tv channel I could get a hold of and let them exploit this cruel and uncaring doctor -- doctors are suppose to treat the ill with compassion not turn them away becuase they do not have money -- I thought they take an oath to treat the sick. How horrible has our society become0 -
