Surgery Is Over

Hi all. Just dropping in to let you know that my shoulder surgery went well....it was "just" a bone spur....no torn rotator cuff. That's the good news. The bad news is there was a lot of cleanup needed to get the bone spur taken care of, and there was also problems with the shoulder blade......so, the orthopedic surgeon has his work cut out for him. I was in surgery for five hours instead of the predicted 1-1/2 hours, and the recovery is going to be a bit longer then expected. BUT, it was a good prognosis, and I am already in physical theraphy as of this morning (two days after surgery). Thank you all for your concern, and for your prayers. Now, let's get on with living. Hugs.

Sounds like good news to me.
Sounds like good news to me. Perhaps a bit longer on the recovery but the outcome you wanted to hear. Take care of yourself and, yes, now on to living!!

That's wonderful news. Follow the recommendation of the PT but don't overdo. After my mastectomy I had to ask my doctor for a PT referral and followed it to the letter. I think it really sped my recovery. I certainly didn't have as significant pain as I thought.
Keep up the good work. Lola

    Wonderful news!
So glad to hear it was just a bone spur (though that still sounds like a big deal!). Now you can be on the mend. Thanks for updating us! Do what they tell you and take another stab at the extra presents....ya never know! Pammy

I'm glad it wasn't your rotator cuff but what a long surgery for "just" a bone spur.

Rest and do what the doctor said-which I know you will.

Glad you came out with the prognosis you were hoping for, sounds like you have a good doc there. Now relax and let others care for you, you deserve a bit of pampering.

Sounds like you're on your way to resolution of your "shoulderitis." Did you have shoulder problems before cancer surgery, or was it part of the aftermath? xoxoxoxo Lynn

Thank you all for your encouragement, and for your concern. Tasha, you always bring a surprise in your posts, and you never know who is behind the scenes here. Part of the mystery is that you put the thought process into action, but I will never tell. Lynn, this shoulder problem only began about three months, and was not part of pre-cancer problems. Actually, I have been very fortunate over the years, and the breast cancer diagnosis was the first real "illness" I have ever faced in my lifetime. At age 65, I guess I am lucky in that respect. Also, being that age is going to make the recovery process a bit longer. I am looking forward to being up and about again, and would again like to say thanks to all for caring. Hugs.

A little late but still relieved and glad for you
Judy, Joe told me right away that you'd posted that you were ok and out of surgery. Sorry for posting late, but you were in my thoughts and prayers--don't doubt that! Very relieved that no rotator cuff tear was found, though it sounds as if that bone spur was more than enough to deal with. Wishing you no more pain and a smooth recovery. Maybe your PT can include occasional sessions of Casey cuddling!
