Thanks for any info.

yes
I had it done but it was not long as I recall. But I had it done before I started tamoxifen and wasn't paying as much attention.

Had Test
I had the CYP2D6 test on October 22nd and my doctor had the results back within a week. I called him to get the results, and his nurse told me I was getting "intermediate" metabolization, whatever that means. She didn't know, and my doctor told me he'd discuss it with me when I see him on the 18th of this months. He told me to keep taking it because I was getting some good out of it. Anyway, I'm still taking it and will find out in a couple of weeks what "intermediate" means. I've been taking it since the middle of July.0 -

Thank you for the information. I will check with my oncologist on my next visit. I have been taking tamoxifen without CYP2D6 test.
I guess because I have experienced side effects the Tamoxifen is working. But I would like to know for sure.0 -

Everyone should have the test to make sure that they can metabolize tamox before taking it. As some have shown, they are poor metabolizers of it and therefore, it would do them no good. Hope you get your results soon.0 -
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone for your info - this helps! I know I'm impatient but I don't want to take this if it's not doing any good!
I've learned the one thing, with BC, you learn to be patient!

Metabolizing Tamoxifen
There is an extensive discussion of this topic about low, intermediate and high metabolizers of tamoxifen on breastcancer.org. I go that website quite often and have found several discussions regarding tamoxifen as well as aromatase inhibitors, for me, specifically, Arimidex. You may want to check it out. Hugs, Marilynn0
