NHL Thymoma Surgery

I was diagnosed in 2002 with Large B cell NHL that manifested itself as a malignant thymus gland. Surgery removed it via an incision between the left ribs. I went through the CHOP-R chemo and 4 weeks of radiation. I’m feeling pretty good health-wise with a couple of exceptions. I am coming up on 4 years in remission.

Here is my question: since they removed the tumor via lateral entry via the left side, they had to cut my phrenic nerve, which has severely affected my aerobic capacity of the left lung. Has anyone else experienced this and can you give me some ideas of how to improve my lung capacity on the left side?

    My Son
    My 32 year old son has been diagnosed with a large b cell that also came from the thymus. Same removal. We are scheduled for Pet scan next week. They also cut his phrenic nerve. The tumor also connected to his heart.

    How are you doing now?
