Chemo memories

Oh memories!
One year ago today. I was 4 days into my chemo cycle. And I was struggling. My bowels were moving, which was fine accept my colostomy bag needed to be changed 5 times. And I was sooooo dizzy, that blackout feeling that comes right before fainting- tried to change my colostomy bag, but wasn’t quite getting it on the mark and I ended up with feces all over me, the bathroom (feces handprints on the toilet, the sink, the floor and shower curtain) and my bedroom. I did try to take a bath- I remember thinking as I was in the tub that drowning wasn’t the way I wanted to go. Dragged myself to the floor- then one attempt after another to get up was met by severe dizziness- I fainted many times, ended up hitting my face on something as I went down- lots of bumps and bruises, thankfully nothing broken or serious. But I could not get up off the floor. My daughter at the door FINALLY- told her to call for an ambulance. That was my last hospitalization for chemo related issues. I was in that time for a week. It was the last time I got oxy. It was months before I started to feel more like a human being.

Raising a toast to all of you still in the thick of the fight. You are always in my prayers and those prayers are always about giving you strength and courage to fight this Beast.

Love from Minnesota
