It's me.. Long time no see...
I just wanted to let you all know I'm still here... four more boosters to go...doc said we should take a break for a few days because my nipple has broken open and the skin all around it is breaking down, I said no way... I don't want to prolong this anymore than we did already... so Monday I will be finished. In the mean time he has put me on pain meds... yuck I hate the way they make me feel... and now I am using SSD which is a "Silver Sulfadiazine Cream" rx... can't tell if it's helped or not... I have been running a low grade fever for the last 2 weeks, so now they take my temp everyday instead of just on mondays... lovely...
Anyway.. I took this week off of work, thought I could use the time around the house... so far that hasn't worked... just sleep off and on all day until treatment time... opps... about time for me to go... one more will be down then only three to go!
I love and miss you all!
♥ & hugs,
~T

Hi T
I'm sorry about your skin breakdown. I know the pain of that, the gave me silver sulfadizine also but it didn't help as well as the gauze strips soaked in saline and then layed on the skin until dryed.
also I know about the fatique.. I was tired for so long and now my energy has gradually started to come back, it must have been about 3 months, but I am working full-time again, I'm still tired but a different kind of tired, knowing I worked hard.
four more and I will celebrate with you! we love and miss you too.

Almost there
Hi, T! So glad you updated, but sorry rads are giving you such a hard time. I hope the medication and creams will help. I think it was good to take a week off from work, but not to do housework! I think you should rest and do things that you like instead. Just a few more and we will be celebrating with you. Take it easy, T.

Taleena
Glad to hear from
Taleena
Glad to hear from you but so sorry that you are having these problems with radiation. It is so different with everyone. I think that alot depends on where the rads are being directed. If I am remembering correctly, many that have had the worst skin breakdowns have had their field more under the breast and near the nipple. Under the breast is more suspectible to moisture and that may contribute also. Mine was above my nipple and over to my nodes but not up my neck. Up the neck also seems to be more problematic. I had redness and my nipple flaked but no too bad. I had fatigue but that was okay also. I am sure that those that have had chemo and then rads are likely to have a double whammy of tiredness. It is good that you took time off and actually the best thing you did is to rest. The catchup stuff will happen in due time and it's not as important as you rebuilding your strength. It is also good that they are watching the fever and use those pain meds. I hate taking pain pills also, makes me out of it. You are a tough cookie to be pushing through to the end but I think I would want to do the same. Suck it up and get it done, then get strong again.
My prayers and thoughts are that you heal quickly with no further problems.

I'm so sorry
Taleena, so sorry you are having a tough time with rads. You have been through alot with even getting treatment started and now it is taking it's toll on you. We have no choice, however, but to listen to our bodies. I understand the negative energy! I had the best intentions to do things around the house too, but you know what? The house is going to be here and once I have my energy back, I will be happy to have things to do, to use that energy on!
Rest, rest, rest!! Let your body heal itself. Sleep will help to heal your body. Glad that you took the week off work instead of pushing it! We miss you too, but want you well also.
I did more browsing than posting during the end of my treatments. Just take care of you! I'll take care of "Sammy" until your ready.
We look forward to celebrating with you on Monday! Please, please take it easy and be kind to yourself!
Hugs and smiles....♥Pammy0 -

Hey T... sorry hear your having such a hard time, but your almost at the finish line. Glad to hear from you. Everyone has been wondering where you were. Hope you start feeling better soon.. :-)
T, sorry to hear all the problems you are having. There are just so many different types of experiences that people have with the treatments. Rest, rest, rest...that's the best thing you can do right now.

wow ~T
that sounds rough, I know I burned pretty badly, but nipple skin breaking open???? ouch!!!! Hope the new cream helps, and a big "attagirl!" for keeping at it. Sounds like sleep is the best thing for you now. Keep as healthy and rested as possible. Soon you will be done!

Almost Done
Good to hear from you, T. You have been missed, but we know you've had a rough time. Thank you for posting and letting us know how you are.
I am sorry you've had so much pain as well as the tiredness. If it helps at all, I can tell you that the healing is pretty quick, starting about a week after the last treatment. The silvadene did help me right away. Jackie's suggestion of the saline solution has always sounded soothing.
Hang in there, ok? We will celebrate that last treatment with you.
Sending you positive thoughts,

Taleena, so sorry to hear of
Taleena, so sorry to hear of all your problems at the end of rads. Just hang in there and rest! I used birdseye cloth (diaper cloth) soaked in a solution that the nurse gave me and I padded my bra with plain white flannel to ease the irritation toward the very end.
Hugs & prayers headed your way....0 -

I am so sorry Taleena. I was hoping that you wouldn't have any more problems with rads. But, the good news is that you will be done in 4 days! How good is that! And, remember to keep using the creams even after you are done. And, rest, rest and more rest. Rads are hard no matter what anyone says! Take care of yourself. This board will be here. You just take care of you! Nice to see you posting!

Poor T...
Am so sorry you're having such a tough time. Sounds nasty. Hoping the cream will help.
Taking this last week of rads off from work seems like a smart choice. Besides the meds, rest is the best thing you can do for your body right now. As others have already stated - healing begins rather quickly once treatment ends.
Am counting down to Monday with you.
Take good care.
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Taleena I am glad to hear
Taleena I am glad to hear from you, but sorry you are feeling so down. I am happy to hear you are using SSD cream that is really excellent stuff. You're gonna be done soon, it's almost over you are a survivor. Check in when you are feeling better, will be praying for you.
