Radiation freakles
I was wondering if anyone else had this occur? The nurses at my oncologist office said they never heard of anyone getting freakles from radiation.
Anyone with any input?????????

Spots
e_hope,
I have also noticed some spots on my chest that weren't there before (or at least I couldn't see them before). I think (just guessing here) that the raditation makes your skin like a sunburn and any areas or spots will show up the longer you get treatments. I'm pretty sure that people with freckles on their faces get darker, more noticble freckles when they get a sunburn.
That's my input. My doctor and nurses haven't said anything to me about this being abnormal so I'm going to assume my spots will fade after radiation is over and my skin isn't pink anymore.0 -

I got spotty, too. The techs called inthe nurse & doctor to look at it, but they determined that there was nothing to worry about. Aggravating....
I just finished rads and never had this happen, but, I didn't burn or get a tan either. I just got pink. I have never heard of this. Hope it goes away for you.

Ok. Let us know what your rads oncologist says. I am sure it is just some added bonus to rads that I didn't get. lol Seriously, I am sure it is just something that will go away. Hope your zapping goes quickly and easily for you and everyone!

Some people get freckles when they spend time in the sun. They say rads is like a sunburn for some people. So maybe some people also get freckles from the radiation?0 -
thanks ladies... Its worseAkiss4me said:I got freckles
Or I at least got what looked like freckles. Extra pigmentation form the radiation. I was told this is normal and other than look strange, there was no side effect to having them. They faded pretty quickly as my "Tan" faded. ♥Pammy
thanks ladies... Its worse today.. didn't see doctor she had to leave.. seeing her tomorrow now. I never got freckles from the sun.. so i don't know.. Pammy good to know that yours faded.. hate to have these for the rest of my life...0 -
Hi, I had full body radiation and got lots of freckles on my face! LOTS! It's been 21 years since my last treatment and the freckles are still there. I've been told the only way to fade or get rid of these freckles would be with a fractional laser treatment which I believe can be $1000. per treatment! I wish it wasn't so expensive but it is.

I’m almost finished with my radiation treatment and have developed freckles on my breast mainly. My Radiation oncologist, plus my physical therapist say this is normal and usually fades after time. So I guess time will tell.
