Surgery next week
On Tuesday I'll be having surgery to repair two umbilical hernias. They're along the line of my original surgery incision, but on either side of the navel.
I've been reducing them several times a day, to prevent those horrible attacks. The last one landed me in the ER, I think I posted about that.
The surgeon will start with laparoscopic surgery, but he's pretty sure he'll have to switch to doing it with an incision. That means a longer recovery time, he said 6-8 weeks, it can be undone if not allowed necessary healing time.
In addition,my CA has gone from 58.9 to 93.8 in 6 weeks, and the scan in the ER showed that the lymph nodes are growing again. When I've recovered from the surgery I'll have to start chemo again. This will be my 3rd chemo and it gets really hard to not have anything pleasant to look forward to.
I hate doing this to my family, they're great and supportive, but I wish I didn't have to worry them. My hubby has been my rock, and my best friend, I wish we could have happy things and not illness to deal with.
I'm on an anti depressant, but it's a rough time now.
I know you all understand, so I won't apologize for venting.
Have a pleasant day tomorrow,
Jane

HI Jane,
So sorry to hear about impending surgery. I sure hope surgeon can keep it laprascopic..It is so much easier, but if he can't there are a whole lot of people here who will be with you in your recovery. By the way, as a family member, who loves the person with OVCA, we don't mind about worrying about you guys. In fact, I have learned through all this is that I thoroughly enjoy my time with my mother in a way I never did. We learn to be happy and laugh at little things like eating Hagen Daz dulche de leche ice cream and oreo cookies late at night!! I'll never forget when I was on the living room couch and had stolen her oreos and she came out to ask me to turn the TV down and there I was Pigging out on HER frozen OREOS. That's one of the best laughable memories I have with my mother. You should have seen the look on her face . I know your husband feels the same way....Those are very happy things!! Good Luck Tuesday and keep us posted how it goes!!0 -
It is hard
Jane,
I'm really sorry about both the hernias and the upcoming chemo. I am also on my third time with chemo - never know what to call it, round, cycle, treatments? It is really hard, especially since it now gets very difficult to envision having multiple years in remission. You realize it is truly a chronic disease. On the other hand, we have all learned so much from this journey, lessons we could never learn otherwise. Most of all, we learn to depend on God to help us get through, and that can only be a wonderful thing. God and each other - some of the most wonderful friendships I have ever had are right here.
I hope your surgery is quick and very successful!
Love and hugs, Carol0 -
Don't Apologize!
No need to apologize to us. We sure understand and isn't this a comfortable place to vent? When is your surgery? Let us know and we will offer up extra prayers for that day. It is good to have something that can be fixed though. (((HUGS))) Saundra0 -
